The Sheffield D-Dry® XT-motorcycle jacket is the slightly dressier and longer version than the short Kirby D-Dry® XT-motorcycle jacket: think city, think light but excellent protection against weather conditions, and a wide usability on and off the bike.
That covered many of its strengths already. You can imagine the Sheffield D-Dry® XT-motorcycle jacket being part of your Sunday-walk-with-umbrella-through-the-park, as well as your riding companion to the office. And that’s exactly its intention. This urban motorcycle jacket is waterproof and breathable, thanks to the laminated D-Dry® XT-membrane, which acts as the exterior of this three-quarters length motorcycle jacket. ‘Three-quarters’: maxi-scooters, indeed. Dainese is Italian and in the larger cities of the boot, these are part of the street furniture.
The laminated D-Dry® XT-membrane is elastic in all four directions and mainly feather-light. This turns the Sheffield D-Dry® XT-motorcycle jacket into a remarkable piece of technical fabric. Add the removable thermal lining to that and you’ll realize that – in the city – you can handle just about everything. When you’re riding around on your maxi-scooter, everything can be fitted underneath the saddle too. In all other cases, a coatrack would be more practical, but these are sacrifices we are prepared to make. The lack of ventilation openings seems to exclude summer, although the breathing properties of the D-Dry® XT-membrane takes care of that for quite some time.
You’ll never look silly with the Sheffield D-Dry®
XT-motorcycle jacket, that’s for sure. Well, not because of the motorcycle
jacket, anyway.
The three-quarters cut doesn’t allow as many individual
adjustment possibilities as you’re probably used to from a motorcycle jacket.
The waist can be centered a few centimeters with two push buttons, same as the
cuffs. A drawstring at the bottom is the only option there. The collar has been
finished quite high, and with two pushbuttons and a Velcro strip, the wind flap
allows for some adjustment possibilities.
There are four wide pockets in the front. Enough to keep some things at hand. The left forearm hides another little pocket with zipper and you can store a number of things inside. And while you are grabbing around in all these pockets, you experience the comfortable and enjoyable way the impact-protection has been adjusted to this: Pro-Shape 2.0 certified protectors on shoulders and elbows comply with the highest Dainese safety standards and are conspicuously inconspicuous. A back protector can be fitted at your own will: this jacket is ready for that.
This is a lovely city jacket. Motorcycle jacket. City and motorbike jacket. Jacket. Waterproof, laminated, light… We’d almost be tempted to go and buy a maxi-scooter.
Below you will find an overview per body length of the appropriate CE homologated Dainese back protector.
