In the old days, people needed to crank an engine to start it. For a long time, motorcycles came with a kick-starter, which were a lot cooler and reduced the risk of a broken jawbone to a blue shin bone. Those days are gone, for most riders. Not a bad evolution, because kickstarting your engine is a skill not easily mastered.
You can try to push start your machine, but that's not as simple as it sounds.
Hence: the electric starter and a battery. A reliable battery in good working order is about the only really necessary part of any motorcycle. Okay, a handlebar, a brake and some tyres are pretty nice to have too.
Use our Battery Finder (batteries motorcycle & scooter) to find the right one for your bike.
