The Drifter 3 is a waterproof (H20) textile glove with integrated membrane and a vintage look. A lot of everything, for little money.
First of all: the long cut (generous up to the wrist) and the waterproof Hydratex membrane don't really give the Drifter 3 a summery look. However, this glove is fresh and breathable enough to use during the hottest season. And - as far as we're concerned - quite a bit beyond that too. As long as it doesn't get really cold, you can get by with this.
The exterior - with a strikingly large accordion panel - consists of many details in various related materials, although the black hides that for the most part. PWR|Shell (500D stretch) on the back of the hand and goatskin leather on the palm are the main ones, and together they form a hardwearing whole.
The accents come mainly from extra layers of leather for grip in the palm and on certain fingertips (touch tip - for your smartphone), or in the form of foam protection on knuckles and fingers.
It makes the Drifter 3 - which essentially just builds on the reputation of its predecessor - a pretty versatile glove. A knuckle protector is not what you should be looking for. It has been replaced by a large area of elastic accordion material, which provides an unparalleled freedom of movement. Water absorption is limited by that same piece (and especially the fabric used).
The long cuff offers protection beyond the wrist and features a double velcro strip, which tightens the glove and/or keeps it in place.
