The Helite E-GP Air 2 is an electronic airbag vest developed specifically for track use. You wear this vest over your motorcycle race suit. It is an affordable system, partly because no maintenance contracts or subscriptions are required.
The integrated electronic detection system analyses your movements in real time via multiple sensors: an accelerometer, a gyroscope and GPS. The algorithm records speed, position and acceleration, detecting a crash in 360 degrees. Once the system recognises a crash, the airbag inflates fully in ±100 milliseconds. That is fast enough to protect you before ground impact.
Fall detection time is ±50 milliseconds.
Turtle technology combines the 18-litre airbag volume. The actual airbag, ensuring point loads are effectively distributed and absorbed. The system protects your neck, spine, chest, pelvis, coccyx, head, collarbone and virtually all internal organs.
The exterior of the Helite E-GP Air 2 consists of 1.2 mm thick cowhide leather, supplemented with foam that protects the airbag chamber. On the back are removable leather sliders on Velcro. You replace those sliders separately without issue after a crash. Elastic inserts on the sides and at neck and shoulder height ensure a close fit without restricting freedom of movement. The armholes are generously cut, easing donning of the vest. A cut-out on the back accommodates the hump of your race suit. You close the vest with Velcro, which works even with gloves on.
The Helite E-GP Air 2 weighs 950 grams. You barely or not at all notice that while riding. The interior is finished with 3D mesh for extra comfort.
The system activates automatically once you put on and close the vest. The battery lasts 25 hours and you charge it via the included USB cable. An LED indicator shows status: green means active, orange warns of a nearly empty battery (about 2 hours left), and red indicates the system is off or faulty.
After a crash, you simply replace the e-cartridge and the Helite E-GP Air 2 is ready to use again. The new cartridge has a clip connector. Provided there is no external damage, the vest can be reused multiple times. If in doubt or with visible damage, have the system checked, of course.
Optional fork sensor: there is an extra sensor you mount on your motorcycle's front fork. It shortens detection time from 60 to 31 milliseconds, even at standstill or low speed. This fork sensor is for road use only and must not be used on the track.
The Helite E-GP Air 2 is CE-certified. The vest comes in sizes S to XL, plus LL and XLL for larger waists. Measure your chest circumference including race suit to select the right size.
In the box you find the vest, a mounted COâ‚‚ cartridge, a charging cable and the user manual.
