A 'coat hanger' is a discreet but strong - often plastic - loop on the outside of a motorcycle jacket. It is usually found just below the collar, on the back.
The 'coat hanger' is better equipped to hang a sometimes wet and anyway heavy motorcycle jacket than the (often several) small, fabric loops inside.
