The design is sleek and sporty, something that the matte colors - thanks to the NMT paint technology - emphasizes. The outer shell of the iXS 218 is made of polycarbonate and one helmet shell contains all sizes. This results in a light weight and when we then tell you that you have both a transparent visor and an integrated sun visor at your disposal, this is quite surprising. The clear, scratch-resistant quick-release visor is basic but good. It is Pinlock®-ready. The rear, integrated sun visor leaves just a bit of space between the chin guard and the nose deflector when unfolded. In the tradition of enduro and dual sport, the chin guard leaves enough room for oxygen to reach the body and muscles, even during serious exercise.
A lockable, double top ventilation and an equally lockable chin ventilation guarantee sufficient air circulation. The vents can be easily opened or closed even with motorcycle gloves. At the back there is a much-needed wind outlet. Keeping your head cool seems to be a certainty.
The inside is of the soft and pleasant kind, where attention was clearly paid to good ventilation. Maintenance tips:
- Reluctant to disassemble the interior of your helmet in order to wash it? You can also clean the interior without removing it with S100 Helmet Interior Cleaner.
- The outside and the visor of your helmet should be cleaned with S100 Helmet and visor cleaner.
Safety above all! Never ride with a scratched or dull visor. Especially at night, scratches cause blinding reflections of street lights and headlights of oncoming vehicles. This effect is even more pronounced in rainy weather. It is best to replace a worn visor as soon as possible. Planning a long trip? Then don't forget to take a replacement visor with you. Never ride in the dark with a tinted visor.
