The ART certification is a Dutch quality label that indicates the level of theft protection offered by a motorcycle or scooter lock. This certification is issued by the ART Foundation and is an important requirement for many insurance companies. • ART 3: three-star locks provide good theft protection for mopeds, scooters and bicycles with a high theft risk. For mopeds and scooters, insurers generally require at least an ART 3-certified lock.

The SRA certification is the French counterpart to the Dutch ART quality label and refers to an independent testing and approval process for anti-theft products such as motorcycle locks. SRA-certified locks are tested for mechanical resistance against sawing, drilling and other attack methods and are recognised by many insurers in France and across Europe as proof of effective theft protection.

• SRA Class: indicates that the lock has been tested and approved according to the stringent French SRA standards for theft resistance. A lock with SRA certification offers reliable protection against break-in attempts and meets security requirements set by many insurers.
• SRA & insurance conditions: similar to the ART system, some insurance companies in France and Europe require the use of an SRA-certified lock as a condition for theft coverage.

The application indicates which type of two-wheeler the lock is suitable for. Not all locks offer the same level of security or compatibility, so choosing a lock that matches the type of bicycle, scooter or motorcycle is essential.

• Bicycle: bicycle locks are designed for lower weight and a lower theft risk. They are suitable for city bikes and e-bikes, but generally do not provide sufficient security for scooters or motorcycles.
• Scooter: locks for scooters and mopeds offer a higher level of theft protection than bicycle locks, with a good balance between security and weight. They are suited to lighter motorised two-wheelers.
• Motorcycle: motorcycle locks are the heaviest and offer the highest level of theft protection. They are designed to withstand more aggressive attack methods and are suitable for motorcycles with a high theft risk.
