Sporty, featherlight, super-ventilated and compatible with Tech-Air airbag systems: it is the same opening line as with the predecessor of the AST V3 Air Jacket. That makes sense, because in this new, third version it remains a top-class summer motorcycle jacket. One to put on when you would actually prefer not to wear a motorcycle jacket and subsequently have no regrets about it at all.
The construction from 450D polyfabric provides a wear-resistant base. The Alpinestars AST V3 Air Jacket has even become a bit lighter, while the technical performance remains at a high level. Sure, you should not contest MotoGP with this, although the sporty cut does hint in that direction. Pre-formed sleeves delay any fatigue and the extended rear prevents a bare lower back. Dual tech mesh and laser perforations complement the whole and ensure a constant airflow. Ventilation zips are superfluous. Thermal linings too. This is a motorcycle jacket for the summer. Or the south. Whichever comes first.
The Nucleon Flex Plus protectors (CE level 1) on shoulders and elbows are light, flexible and ventilated. On the shoulders you find the DFS GP Lite Evo system, a dual-density slider that primarily provides visual sporty energy. Back and chest protectors are options, although you must consciously choose them yourself. Standard, Alpinestars keeps it to the lighter summer version without that extra protection.
The various Tech-Air airbag systems are compatible with the AST V3 Air Jacket. And then that MotoGP might come into view after all. The aerodynamic Velcro cuffs limit air resistance at higher speeds, while the low collar prevents irritation at the helmet edge. At waist height you can – also with Velcro – adjust everything to size.
A set of hand pockets and zipped inner pockets are provided. This motorcycle jacket is CE A-class certified. The belt loops reveal that you combine this motorcycle jacket with good motorcycle jeans.
