Le Velox est un casque intégral d’entrée de gamme qui combine un prix attractif et des fonctionnalités essentielles de base – deux atouts typiques de GMS. Un casque idéal pour le motard à la recherche de protection sans se ruiner.
La calotte est en polycarbonate , un matériau thermoplastique léger et résistant aux chocs. GMS utilise une seule calotte externe pour toutes les tailles, mais compense cela par trois tailles de calottes internes, offrant une meilleure ergonomie. Le poids reste raisonnable : environ 1600 g.
La ventilation est assurée par deux entrées sur le dessus et une sur la mentonnière, manipulables aisément même avec des gants. L’air s’échappe à l’arrière via un extracteur intégré et un petit spoiler qui guide le flux. Un système simple mais efficace pour un usage quotidien et les trajets courts.
Sans viser les performances d’un casque racing, le GMS Velox suffit largement pour les trajets domicile-travail ou les balades du week-end. L’écran transparent est antirayures et équipé d’un mécanisme d’ajustement automatique garantissant une bonne étanchéité. Il est préparé pour Pinlock (lentille en option). Un pare-soleil interne teinté foncé se déploie via un curseur latéral placé à gauche, au-dessus de l’articulation de l’écran.
L’intérieur en polyester confortable est traité antibactérien, entièrement amovible et lavable. Voilà qui est pratique pour l'entretien et l'hygiène, surtout lors d'une utilisation très fréquente. Un espace est prévu pour le passage de lunettes.
La fermeture micrométrique offre un ajustement précis et une manipulation rapide.
Le GMS Velox répond à la norme ECE 22.06 , la plus récente en matière de sécurité des casques moto en Europe. Cette norme est plus exigeante que la précédente en matière d'absorption des chocs et de résistance à la pénétration.
Dans certains pays (p.ex. La France), on est obligé de mettre des autocollants réfléchissants sur le casque. Le Velox est livré sans ces autocollants réfléchissants. Vous en trouverez ici.
Conseils d’entretien:
- Vous n’avez pas envie de démonter l’intérieur de votre casque et de la laver. Vous pouvez également nettoyer l’intérieur sans l’enlever avec du nettoyant pour intérieur casque S100.
- L’extérieur et la visière de votre casque se nettoient le mieux avec un nettoyant casque et visière S100.
La sécurité avant tout! Ne roulez jamais avec une visière rayée ou mate. Spécialement la nuit, les rayures contribuent à vous aveugler à cause des reflets de l’éclairage des rues et des phares de voitures. Et, quand il pleut, c’est encore pire. Il vaut mieux remplacer au plus vite une visière rayée ou mate. Vous vous préparez à faire un long voyage? N’oubliez pas de prendre une visière de réserve et ne roulez pas avec une visière teintée quand il fait noir.
The Velox is an entry‑level full‑face helmet that balances an affordable price with solid core functionality. This is a motorcycle helmet for motorcycle riders who want protection without having to spend heavily.
The outer helmet shell is made from polycarbonate, a light and impact‑resistant thermoplastic material. GMS uses one outer shell for all motorcycle helmet sizes to keep production costs low, but the Velox employs three different inner‑shell sizes to refine the fit and compensate for the volume of that single outer shell. At around 1,600 grams, the weight remains acceptable for an entry‑level model.
Ventilation comes from (two) openings on top and one on the chin bar. They are operated by sliders that can be opened and closed easily while wearing motorcycle gloves. The airflow exits through a rear outlet where a spoiler helps guide the airstream. The system is simple but functional for daily use and shorter rides.
The GMS Velox is not built for race‑track performance, but it is perfectly adequate for commuting and weekend rides. The clear visor is scratch‑resistant and, according to GMS, uses a mechanism that pulls in for an automatic seal. The locking system operates smoothly. The Velox is prepared for a Pinlock, which you need to purchase separately. A drop‑down dark sun visor is deployed when needed and is operated via a slider on the left side, above the hinge.
Inside, the Velox features comfortable polyester cheek pads and lining. Both are treated with an anti‑bacterial finish and are removable for washing, which is useful for maintenance and hygiene if you use this motorcycle helmet regularly. A cut‑out in the lining makes it easier to wear glasses without forcing the frames into awkward angles.
The chin strap fastens with a micrometric ratchet buckle that can be adjusted precisely.
The Velox meets the ECE 22.06 safety standard, the latest European certification for motorcycle helmets and one that imposes stricter requirements on impact absorption and penetration resistance than its predecessor.
In some countries (e.g., France) it is mandatory to provide your helmet with reflective stickers. The Velox is delivered without these reflective stickers. Reflective sticker sets can be found here.
Maintenance tips:
- Are you reluctant to disassemble the interior of your helmet in order to wash it? You can also clean the interior without removing it with S100 Helmet Interior Cleaner.
- The outside and the visor of your helmet should be cleaned with S100 Helmet and visor cleaner.
Safety above all! Never ride with a scratched or dull visor. Especially at night, scratches cause blinding reflections of street lights and headlights of oncoming vehicles. This effect is even more pronounced in rainy weather. It is best to replace a worn visor as soon as possible. Planning a long trip? Then don't forget to take a replacement visor with you. Never ride in the dark with a tinted visor.
