The GMS Vectus is a jet helmet with a long transparent visor. This ‘open face’ motorcycle helmet provides almost full-face protection and suits relaxed city riding as well as laidback trips on sunny days. The price‑quality balance fits the GMS philosophy perfectly: budget‑friendly and solid.
The motorcycle helmet shell of the GMS Vectus is made from polycarbonate, in two different shell sizes covering all motorcycle helmet sizes. Those two outer shells ensure a tight, compact fit. GMS also uses four different inner shell sizes, which refines the fit even further. The weight is limited to 1,350 grams, just as you would expect from a jet helmet.
Ventilation comes from openings on top. ‘Added ventilation’, because this is obviously a relatively wind‑friendly motorcycle helmet. You operate the top vents via sliders that are easy to handle even with motorcycle gloves. The airstream flows through the motorcycle helmet and exits via an outlet in the rear spoiler. That spoiler naturally contributes to aerodynamics, although you notice it less in an open-face helmet than on a race track.
The long transparent visor is the central feature of this Vectus. It extends far down and protects your face largely from wind and even rain. It is scratch‑resistant and seals neatly. The GMS Vectus is still a jet helmet, of course: full isolation from the elements is a tough call.
The transparent visor does come prepared for a Pinlock lens. And if you are in any doubt about the value of that: with a long visor like this one, it really makes a difference. You buy the Pinlock lens separately.
The GMS Vectus has an integrated dark sun visor. You flip it down via a slider on the side. The sun visor reaches just above the nose. No second full‑face visor, then, but a chance to adapt to the conditions. And the ease of having sun protection on hand.
The interior of the GMS Vectus consists of comfortable polyester cheek pads and lining. Both are antiseptic‑treated, removable and washable. That is practical for regular use. Cut‑outs in the lining at temple level make this helmet suitable for spectacle wearers without pressure points.
The chin strap closes with a micrometric ratchet buckle for precise adjustment. The Vectus meets the ECE 22.06 safety standard, the most recent certification for motorcycle helmets in Europe.
For maintenance of this helmet we recommend S100 helmet and visor cleaner for the exterior. For cleaning the interior, without removing it, you can use S100 helmet interior cleaner. New visors have received a water-repellent treatment. This treatment is less effective after some time. Restore the water-repellent effect with Rain-X anti-rain spray.
Safety above all! Never ride with a scratched or dull visor. Especially at night, scratches cause blinding reflections from streetlights and headlights of oncoming vehicles. This effect is even more pronounced in rainy weather. It is best to replace a scratched or dull visor as soon as possible. Planning a longer trip? Then don't forget to take a replacement visor with you. Never ride in the dark with a tinted visor.
