The Component is the flagship product of the new DIRT SERIES (2020) from REV'IT, which are all about adventure, but in a way that adventure should be about the basics.
It translates into lightweight motorcycle clothing, comfortable and with a high level of contemporary protection, but at the same time 'limited' to the essentials. No thermal padding, no ten layers. What is there, is top. Without a doubt.
This Component is available in both black and yellow ochre. If in doubt: yellow ochre. Unique in style, unique in look.
The outer shell is PWR|SHELL ripstop stretch, on the sleeves and the shoulders amply supplemented with 750D Cordura: wear resistant and able to withstand a tough ride. In heavy weather, the laminated Component jacket is waterproof. That's a certainty. It's actually (laminated) Hydratex® that guarantees the waterproof properties, and there's very little to be said against that. No removable membrane, and don't bother looking for a thermal lining: if you want to go on a winter adventure, opt for a thermal jacket as an extra layer.
The opposite is true: under arms and upper arms have ventilation zippers, and you're supposed to let the warm air out by unzipping the jacket pockets. Those ventilation zippers are waterproof and go right through the laminated membrane. Direct ventilation is still the best option if you really go off-road and opt for the sweaty stuff.
The DIRT-SERIES are characterized by loose, comfortable motorcycle clothing. Not tight. It's all quite roomy, also because the Component gets a fit that immediately takes into account the extra protector jacket you can put on underneath. If you're not planning to do that, it's best to buy a size smaller than you're used to.
The Component comes standard with smooth level 1 CE-certified SEESMART™ protectors on the shoulders and elbows. These are sufficient, but within the DIRT concept you are meant to supplement (or even replace) them with the REV'IT! Slingshot back protector or the REV'IT! Proteus protector vest. Hence the removability of the protectors.
The hood is a clever piece of technical textile. First of all, the way it is attached is very clever. The ease with which you remove or replace the hood - which is also laminated - is impressive. The intention is that both on and off the bike you choose very individually how you want to handle it. The large storage bag on the back is ideal for storing the hood.
The Component can be perfectly combined with the REV'IT! Component H2O pants (over the boot) or REV'IT! Peninsula (inside the boot).
