The MODEKA Atlaz motorcycle jacket sets a new benchmark as the first textile motorcycle jacket to achieve AAA certification (EN 17092‑2:2020). This adventure motorcycle jacket clearly targets motorcycle riders who want the highest level of protection, without the (weather‑related) limitations of leather, and at a sharp price point for a motorcycle jacket of this calibre.
The Atlaz lives up to its name as a solidly built motorcycle jacket. Its foundation consists of 500D Cordura ripstop (100% polyamide) with double reinforcements at key impact zones. Typically, ‘Triple A’ standards are reserved for the racetrack, so reaching this level with a textile construction is impressive in itself. Strength achieved in every sense.
Of course, we expect more from a textile motorcycle jacket than just wear-resistance: versatility and weather protection are key. That’s where this motorcycle jacket goes a step further, making the Atlaz an even more remarkable piece of gear.
The Atlaz motorcycle jacket is a modern 3‑in‑1 design. Both the waterproof and breathable HydroFlex membrane and the removable mid‑layer use the In&Out system: the waterproof membrane can be worn underneath the jacket, over it, or left out entirely. The mid‑layer, on the other hand, is designed to be worn on its own; exactly where an insulating layer is meant to sit, close to the body, but without having to haul the entire Atlaz motorcycle jacket.
Thermal layering isn’t the only strength. Ventilation is also well integrated with the AirDraft, AirVent, and AirCollar systems. The standout feature are the Fidlock‑magnet chest panels that can be snapped open and secured to channel air inside. Add to that full‑length ventilation on the sleeves, and airflow is more than covered.
The fit of the Atlaz is ergonomic, with a touring cut tailored for comfort in motorcycle riding position. Adjustment straps keep everything tight, helping to manage the change in volume when riding with or without the membranes, preventing the motorcycle jacket from ballooning. The collar adjusts via a Flexisnap system or can be clicked open entirely. Both the HydroFlex membrane and the outer motorcycle jacket feature hem drawstrings, while tapered sleeve ends with Velcro closures provide the finishing touches.
Impact safety comes from SAS‑TEC Level 2 shoulder and elbow protectors, standard and height‑adjustable. A pocket is included for an optional SAS‑TEC back protector, and there is space at the chest for additional protection inserts.
Storage is ample, with double front pockets, a large rear pocket, multiple inner compartments, and because the mid‑layer can be worn separately, you gain additional hand pockets there too. A small utility pocket sits on the left forearm for quick‑access items.
Premium YKK Aquaguard zippers support water resistance, though – as experience shows over thousands of kilometres – the claim of a ‘waterproof zipper’ is always risky.
The Atlaz comes with high expectations. At first glance, this 3‑in‑1 adventure motorcycle jacket certainly meets them.
