The GMS Hexago is an entry‑level full‑face helmet that delivers the essentials of a good motorcycle helmet without unnecessary extras. Once again, GMS offers solid basic protection at a budget‑friendly price.
The helmet shell of the GMS Hexago is made from polycarbonate. GMS uses a single outer shell for all motorcycle helmet sizes but compensates with three different inner‑shell sizes. This approach provides a good fit while keeping the weight to a manageable 1,550 grams.
Ventilation is provided by one opening on the chin bar and two on top. All three are operated by sliders that remain easy to use while wearing motorcycle gloves. The airflow passes through integrated channels inside the motorcycle helmet and exits via an outlet in the rear spoiler. That spoiler also contributes to aerodynamics and helps reduce drag at higher speeds.
The clear visor is scratch‑resistant and fitted with a quick‑release mechanism. You can remove it without tools, which is handy for cleaning and maintenance.
The Hexago is prepared to take a Pinlock, which must be purchased separately. A built‑in dark sun visor is deployed via a slider on the side. The lower edge of the sun visor meets the breath guard, so you can still ride comfortably with the clear visor open.
Inside, the GMS Hexago features comfortable polyester cheek pads and lining. Both are anti‑bacterial, removable and washable, which is practical if you wear the motorcycle helmet regularly. Cut‑outs in the lining make it easy to wear glasses without pressure points or distortion.
The chin strap fastens with a micrometric ratchet buckle that can be adjusted precisely and offers sufficient security for daily use.
The Hexago meets the ECE 22.06 safety standard, the latest certification for motorcycle helmets in Europe.
In some countries (e.g., France) it is mandatory to provide your helmet with reflective stickers. The Hexago is delivered without these reflective stickers. Reflective sticker sets can be found here.
Maintenance tips:
- Are you reluctant to disassemble the interior of your helmet in order to wash it? You can also clean the interior without removing it with S100 Helmet Interior Cleaner.
- The outside and the visor of your helmet should be cleaned with S100 Helmet and visor cleaner.
Safety above all! Never ride with a scratched or dull visor. Especially at night, scratches cause blinding reflections of street lights and headlights of oncoming vehicles. This effect is even more pronounced in rainy weather. It is best to replace a worn visor as soon as possible. Planning a long trip? Then don't forget to take a replacement visor with you. Never ride in the dark with a tinted visor.
