For adventure riders and off‑road enthusiasts, this feels like a missing link, the final puzzle piece. The rest is as it should be: positioned between touring and motocross, visually nodding to Alpinestars’ classic MX era, with the ease of use needed for everyday riding.
This Alpinestars Tech 3 Enduro Waterproof motorcycle boot is still the kind you will want to admire on the coffee table first. At around 40 cm high and full of carefully designed detail, the Tech 3 Enduro Waterproof clearly belongs in the world of adventurous high‑mileage riders. Like an external skeleton, these motorcycle boots deliver a very high level of protection without becoming excessively rigid, although a certain degree of firmness is exactly what you want here. The Tech 3 Enduro Waterproof is practically the opposite of a ballet shoe.
The outer shell is made from innovative microfibre that is water‑repellent, light, flexible and still wear‑resistant. Generous accordion stretch zones at the front and rear keep things comfortable and relatively flexible. The top of the motorcycle boot is noticeably more wear‑resistant, ideal as a base for a large shift pad. An extended PU synthetic gaiter around the leg helps prevent excessive water and dirt ingress. The waterproof membrane is integrated into the construction and keeps your feet dry on wet rides.
As with this type of motorcycle boot in general, the first layer of protection comes from the outer shell. The injected TPU shin plate is impossible to miss. It is linked to the lower protector panel by a biomechanical medial blade system that provides good forward and rearward flex while still supporting and protecting the ankle. In other words, a hinge. The associated TPR flap opens almost completely and is secured with Velcro. On the inside, a technical textured surface improves grip.
Three solid polymer buckles close everything securely. The updated closure system uses an aluminium‑framed ratchet with a self‑aligning quick‑release that includes a memory function, so the ratchet ‘remembers’ your usual setting and help create a snug, repeatable fit. All buckles are replaceable. Also present: TPU calf protection, TPU ankle protection and a TPU heel cap. There is a lot of semi‑rigid plastic in and especially on this Tech 3 Enduro Waterproof, by design.
Despite all that, and the TPU‑injected one‑piece foot shell reinforced with a metal shank that extends to the toe protection, you can still walk in the Tech 3 Enduro Waterproof, surprisingly well for this category. A removable EVA footbed with textile lining and a full textile lining inside contribute significantly to comfort. The dual‑compound, lugged Enduro sole is seamlessly integrated into the base structure, providing grip and feedback on and off the bike, and it is replaceable. Even so, this remains a motorcycle boot first and foremost, not a hiking boot.
The Tech 3 Enduro Waterproof motorcycle boot is CE‑certified to EN 13634:2017. It is a very specific choice for adventure riders and off‑road fans: detailed, very protective, comfortable, sturdy, light and now finally also waterproof.
