GIVI ALA44 Trekker Alaska Monokey Top Case Black Aluminium

The Alaska side cases by GIVI have been around for quite some time and now, this compact Alaska top case (ALA44) is added to that collection. Its convenient size and typical adventurous look turn this case into an all-rounder. You can easily store a helmet in here and it has been long since the price/quality was a point of discussion.

The 44 refers to the capacity: 44 litres is not the biggest version (that’s 56 litres), but it’s (probably) the most evident one. It can hold 10 kilograms of luggage no matter what. It will be hard to find a whole lot more.
Just like its conspecifics, this top case is a Monokey^®-top case with aluminium look. Just like every Monokey^®- side case set, one set of keys allows to do everything: open, close, hook and unhook, left and right. You can optionally fit both the side cases and the top case with one and the same key and never worry about a thing.

Every Alaska top case is Made in Italy and is produced of advanced aluminium. And not much more than that: function over form, is what the adventurers say. No frills, only the essentials in a sturdy packaging. There are, however, a number of extras worth mentioning.

Attaching the top case is just a matter of clicking it onto the top case plate; to any Monokey®-top case plate, except those with brake light kit and brake light connection. There are no additional actions required: ‘clicked on’ is the natural state for a top case. Releasing it from the top case plate is simply by turning the external knob underneath the lock. You release the ALA44 with a patented WIRELEASE^® cable system. Now you can take it for a walk, realising that a rectangular aluminium box of this size is best used as a top case.

On the lid, we notice the four integrated strap loops. These allow to attach extra luggage on top of the Alaska Trekker and seem to have come from the same designer table as the two handles on the back. These have been integrated in the hinges, allowing the lid to open further without the traditional use of retention cables. Once open, the ALA44 stays open; it won’t fall shut on its own, which makes packing and unpacking a whole lot easier.

An optional backrest is relatively easy to fit – without drilling or gluing.
Inside the Alaska Trekker 44 top case, there are a number of integrated hooks to organise the interior with nets and webs completely to your liking.

There are a number of optional accessories for this case:

• Inner Bag: a T511 waterproof inner bag keeps your stuff dry. An inner bag has the added advantage that you can remove all your luggage from the case in one operation.
• Backrest: your passenger will certainly prefer the soft backrest E233S to the hard case.
• Security lock: this case is already equipped with a security lock as standard. You have multiple cases? Replace all the locks on all of them with the same key.
• Luggage net: With the T10N luggage net, you always have extra luggage capacity at hand. It is specifically designed for use on suitcases or carriers. Regardless of the shape or size of your luggage, this sturdy, elastic net offers an amazing amount of storage.
• Trolley: with the trolley E206, your top case suddenly becomes easier to transport.

Care instructions: because this case is made of untreated aluminium, it requires a little more maintenance than a plastic case. For cleaning these cases we recommend S100 Moto Wash. NEVER use maintenance products that contain acids or other corrosive substances. Such products cause dark stains which are very difficult to remove afterwards.

Watertightness: the GIVI side cases and top cases are not waterproof. They were awarded an IPX4 rating. Having the right expectations always helps prevent disappointment.
