The Mantis 2 H2O combines the functions of a breathable mesh jacket with the (leather) safety and looks of a racing jacket, and adds a dose of touring-grade waterproofing in the form of a removable membrane.
’Mantis' comes from 'praying mantis', but this one actually looks a lot like a chameleon. In this second version as well, because the Mantis 2 H2O is a successor but above all (again) an eye-catcher.
Okay, first of all it looks sporty. Short cut, leather, TPU shoulder sliders ... those who look from a distance, see a racing jacket. Closer inspection reveals that the cowhide is especially tear and abrasion resistant in the critical areas, while the entire front and back of the Mantis 2 H20 is made from 3D mesh. Just like large sections of the sleeves. This results in a very airy and ventilated ensemble. An ensemble that is (and should be) nice and tight, something which undoubtedly is also due to the polyester-stretch pieces. The real connoisseur of the original Mantis will notice that the materials used in this successor are not exactly the same. It does not change the general durability of this sporty and adventurous jacket. It, however, does make the price razor sharp.
Looking closer, you will notice the removable wind and waterproof hydratex|Lite membrane. Another evolved version, with the same pleasant skin contact and wind-stopping qualities. You can tell it's going to work in fast-changing conditions, when you're riding with short sleeves under dark clouds.
The result is a very versatile motorcycle jacket. Waterproof and windproof when you want it to be, and wonderfully sporty. SEEFLEX® level 2 CE-protectors on the shoulders and elbows are standard, and those who wish can easily install a SEESOFT® RV or SEESOFT® Air CE-level 2 back protector. The Mantis 2 H2O is also prepared to fit a SEESOFT® CE-level 1 chest protector, should you wish to do so.
To be clear, this is not a motorcycle racing jacket. It just looks like it. That also means you get a number of inner pockets and two zippered side pockets. There is some flexibility thanks to the snap button collar, the zippers at the sleeve ends and the velcro strips in the waist, although a motorcycle jacket like this should be tight around your body.
To be clear, this is not a winter jacket. It is a summer jacket that you can make wind and waterproof. There is a difference.
A long and short connecting zipper leave - just like the Belt Loop - just about all combination possibilities open. Our preference would be for a good pair of motorcycle jeans, although there's just as much to be said for a full-blown pair of Apex motorcycle pants from REV'IT!
