With the Matador, REV'IT! links a lot of versatile touring elements to just as many sporty racing elements. This is a motorcycle jacket that will get you through at least three seasons. As long as it doesn't rain. The latter is important.
Is waterproofness the most important thing? Well, not at all. Or it depends on how you look at it. A good rainsuit will get you there, and all the rest you can do with the Matador. The Matador is a very sleek and sporty motorcycle jacket that doesn't look out of place on any race track, but adapts just as easily to daily commuting or that sporty Sunday morning ride. Even a few days on holiday are a possibility.
The removable thermal lining and the numerous perforations each play a crucial role here. Pay particular attention to the chest sections, which are more perforated at the top than at the bottom depending on your exposure to the wind on a sports bike. With a hardwearing mesh behind the leather, safety comes before design, but it has to be said: it adds a unique touch.
The leather is monaco performance, top quality in wear resistance and perforated everywhere but more traditionally. It makes up the vast majority of this motorcycle jacket. Second and third basic materials are the stretch varieties you find on the sides and inside the sleeves. So there is a lot of stretch, which perfectly matches the clean cut of the Matador. This should slide around your body like a second skin. 3D-air mesh, a subtle stripe of reflective material and neoprene as a finish play the supporting roles in this story. It's no coincidence that the good stretching properties also make it easier to take off and put on the thermal lining. If needed, you have a velcro strip at the waist to approach perfection.
The Matador has - you are a sporty one or you’re not - a string of protectors on board. Internal and external. The TPU shoulder protection is derived from the MotoGP, it's not the real deal. Do they help? Of course, they do. And as long as you're not trying to reach MotoGP speeds, even the derivative is always a class or two better than nothing.
'Nothing', by the way, is not an option here. The SEEFLEX® shoulder and elbow protectors are more than capable of coping with those same speeds, and link that to a very practical, flexible and comfortable feel. The matador may look like the top half of a race suit, but it's a whole lot more versatile and, above all, comfortable. SEESOFT® chest andSEESOFT® RV or SEESOFT® Air back protection are optional.
Storage space is always a challenge in a tight second skin. If you're taking your entire belongings with you, you might want to choose a different type of jacket. However, with two zippered pockets and a Napoleon pocket, you'll still have what you need. Depending on the presence of the thermal lining, you can easily glide to the inside pocket.
