The main component of the helmet shell on the AGV K5 S is carbon fiber. The fiberglass helmet shell comes in two different sizes to fit all helmet sizes as tightly as possible. Either you are a racing brand or you are not, and that results in very compact, sleek and lightweight motorcycle helmets.
With two helmet shells AGV keeps the weight of the K5 S well below 1500 grams. Not much for a motorcycle helmet with a built-in sun visor and a lot of sporty ambitions. AGV - active for 70 years and almost 25 years as the motorcycle helmet supplier to Valentino Rossi - tries to go further than many other helmet manufacturers. Especially from a safety standpoint and with a tradition in racing, they like to go beyond the standard. This is also the case with the K5 S. In this respect, the collarbone safe profile, where the shape of the helmet prevents you from breaking your collarbone in the event of a literal blow to the head. Due to this same profile (with two support points and an bow in the middle) a helmet donut is no superfluous luxury.
With five front vents, two on the chin, two on the forehead and a top vent, you won't have any complaints on ventilation. At the back, two (closable) outlets in the aerodynamic spoiler guide the wind back out. All vents can be operated of course. To open the double chin vents, use the lever on the inside of the chin guard. You'll find it at the bottom, front, where the wind curtain chin leaves a small opening to slide your finger through. It's great when you suddenly discover how ingeniously something is put together.
Special attention was also paid to the visor. Anti-scratch, Pinlock® included, with a patented Extra Microlock System and a micro-opening system - where a small gap is guaranteed at the front - a lot has been thought about. ‘Ultravision’ is also an important feature of every AGV helmet: 190° horizontal and 85° vertical, these are the coordinates which best fit your field of vision, according to the Italians. Good for a wide view of the road, the curve and any possible obstacles. Experience teaches us that it is mainly the speed of information processing which, apart from a good viewing technique in the less professional circles, is the most important. Although it can certainly do no harm.
On the left side, just below the visor hinge, that leaves the mechanism visible, you will find the slider for the integrated sun visor, even with motorcycle gloves on. This is also anti-scratch and you can remove and replace it just like the transparent visor without any tools.
The wind deflector on the nose is not too high but does its job. It is easy to remove and so is the wind curtain under your chin. The cheek pads are designed specifically to make putting on the helmet (and taking it off) easy, without too much slack. The entire interior is antibacterial, washable, sweat-absorbent and soft, pleasant and well thought out: spectacle-wearers will have no problems and with a removable wind deflector, the K5 S can be customized to suit your needs.
The soft and attractive Double-D ring buckle is adjustable.
The AGTV K5 S is ready to install the AGV ARK communication system.
For maintenance of this helmet we recommend S100 helmet and visor cleaner for the exterior. For cleaning the interior without removing it, you can use S100 helmet interior cleaner. New visors have received a water-repellent treatment. This treatment is less effective after some time. Restore the water-repellent effect with Rain-X anti-rain spray.
Safety above all! Never ride with a scratched or dull visor. Especially at night, scratches or dull visors cause blinding reflections from street lights and headlights of oncoming vehicles. In rainy weather this effect is even more pronounced. It is best to replace a scratched or dull visor as soon as possible. Planning a longer trip? Then don't forget to bring a replacement visor with you. Never ride in the dark with a tinted visor.
