Scooter riders, urban bikers and lovers of a - very! - price-conscious jet helmet that still has a few assets on the table: look no further. The IXS100 1.0 does not have so many 1's in its name by chance.
The IXS100 1.0 is made out of polycarbonate and two helmet shells accommodate all helmet sizes. This always results in compact jet helmets that you can store in almost every case. Handy, even though a motorcycle helmet just as often just sits on your head and with a weight of 1300 grams for a motorcycle helmet with built-in sun visor this is definitely within the bounds of the permissible.
Top ventilation is present and operable. The spacious slider on top can be adjusted perfectly with motorcycle gloves on, and wind leaves the helmet shell through the outlet at the back.
Contrary to what the category 'jet helmet' suggests, this is in the first place a contemporary motorcycle helmet. So don't immediately think of a 'bucket', but do notice a built-in sun visor, and a removable, washable lining. The operation of the sun visor (which reaches just above the nose) can be found on the left side of the hinge of the transparent visor. A quarter turn, with motorcycle gloves on, does the trick without any problem.
The transparent, scratch-resistant visor does cover the entire face. That means that a bit of motorway riding is possible. IXS should be inferior to nobody when it comes to finishing and eye for detail. Especially when you look at the price tag, you will notice that.
Spectacle wearers will be happy with the comfortable openings in the lining. The closure is micrometric and of course adjustable. The neck rim is spacious enough to be comfortable and finished with an eye for detail.
In some countries (e.g. France) it is mandatory to have your helmet fitted with reflective stickers. The iXS 100 is delivered without these reflective stickers. Reflective sticker sets can be found here.
Maintenance tips:
- Do you cringe at disassembling the interior of your helmet in order to wash it? You can also clean the interior without removing it with S100 Helmet Interior Cleaner.
- The outside and the visor of your helmet should be cleaned with S100 Helmet and Visor Cleaner.
Safety above all! Never ride with a scratched or dull visor. Especially at night, scratches cause blinding reflections of street lights and headlights of oncoming vehicles. This effect is even more pronounced in rainy weather. It is best to replace a worn visor as soon as possible. Planning a long trip? Then don't forget to take a replacement visor with you. Never ride in the dark with a tinted visor.
