The HJC RPHA-11 Solid Carbon is still the most advanced full-face helmet in the HJC range. This motorcycle helmet is designed for track use at the highest level. It is therefore not surprising that this is the helmet worn by HJC riders during races.
The helmet shell is manufactured using the PIM Plus Carbon, the Premium Integrated Matrix method. Compared to previous models, the share of carbon has increased significantly, making the helmet even lighter. Which was already only just over 1300 grams. In other words: more comfort. Safety is not compromised, thanks to 'enhanced Shock-Resistant performance'.
The different helmet sizes of this motorcycle helmet are divided over three helmet shells. The shape has been specially tested in wind tunnels to be as aerodynamic as possible. For the same reasons, a spoiler was fitted to the back of the head.
No expense was spared in developing the ventilation of the RPHA-11 Solid Carbon, either, in order to provide the sporty rider with as much fresh air as possible while racing. Three vents are provided on the chin: one lockable that blows directly onto the inside of the visor to prevent fogging, and two lockable ones that provide fresh air to the rider. The latter are even equipped with a filter. Above the visor opening is the vent - which can also be closed - that keeps the rider's forehead cool. Two top vents can be adjusted in - hold on - six different positions. Just as many (non-closable) outlets serve to let the driving wind out. Everything is connected via the "ACS" system (Advanced Channeling Ventilation), integrated air channels in the inner shell that distribute fresh air.
The RPHA-11 Solid Carbon comes standard with both a clear and a dark-tinted visor, both made of scratch-resistant material. Both visors are Pinlock and tear-off ready. The Pinlock lens is included, the tear-off films can be purchased separately. Thanks to the RapidFire Shield Replacement System, the visor can be replaced easily and without tools, if necessary by a visor in another color. In the closed position, everything can be locked so that even at high racing speeds everything remains closed. A treatment on the outside of the visor with Rain-X anti-rain spray improves visibility during rain showers.
The RPHA-11 Solid Carbon's soft and padded chin strap closes with a double-D buckle, the only one allowed on the race track. In the event of an emergency, emergency services can more easily remove the motorcycle helmet by releasing the Emergency Cheek Pads.
The interior of the RPHA-11 Solid Carbon is made of Multicool and treated according to Polygene technology. This allows for an even better drainage of perspiration, while the superior antibacterial effect prevents unpleasant odors. The interior is removable and hand washable.
As can be expected from a top motorcycle helmet, the RPHA-11 Solid Carbon gets a nose deflector and cutouts for glasses-wearers.
In some countries (e.g., France), it is mandatory to provide your helmet with reflective stickers. The RPHA-11 is delivered without these reflective stickers. Reflective sticker sets can be found here.
Maintenance tips:
- Are you reluctant to disassemble the interior of your helmet in order to wash it? You can also clean the interior without removing it with S100 Helmet Interior Cleaner.
- The outside and the visor of your helmet should be cleaned with S100 Helmet and visor Cleaner.
Safety above all! Never ride with a scratched or dull visor. Especially at night, scratches cause blinding reflections of street lights and headlights of oncoming vehicles. This effect is even more pronounced in rainy weather. It is best to replace a worn visor as soon as possible. Planning a long trip? Then don't forget to take a replacement visor with you. Never ride in the dark with a tinted visor.
