The V30 from HJC is a real 'jar'. Visually anyway, because it has the content of a contemporary, modern jet helmet. As successor of the very successful FG-70S expectations are high, but the HJC V30 definitely lives up to them.
HJC provides two helmet shells to integrate all helmet sizes. The helmet shell is made of 'Advanced Fiberglass Composite', using CAD technology and in function of a superior fit and comfort. The result is a weight of only 1100 grams, which is very reasonable for a jet helmet with integrated sun visor.
Like its predecessor, the HJC V30 is equipped with a tinted sun visor that can be replaced if necessary. The visor is a bit longer than the FG-70s, it lowers to the nose in three steps and provides quite some protection. The sun visor has two handy tabs to make it easier to handle, even when wearing motorcycle gloves. Gone are the snaps for a possible sun peak and - in times of helmet goggles with anti-slip silicone - an extra attachment element for flopping goggles at the back of your jet helmet is not even necessary anymore.
About the Silvercool™ interior we can be short but powerful: top. Moisture-regulating, antibacterial, finished with leather and suede, removable and washable separate elements, it doesn't get much better than that. There are cutouts to accommodate the speakers of a communication system.
The chin strap of the V30 is equipped with a micrometric Microlock, which makes it very easy to adjust. Everything feels very comfortable and natural at all times.
In some countries (e.g., France) it is mandatory to wear reflective stickers on your helmet. The V30 is delivered without these reflective stickers. Reflective sticker sets can be found here.
Maintenance tips:
- Are you reluctant to disassemble the interior of your helmet in order to wash it? You can also clean the interior without removing it with S100 Helmet Interior Cleaner.
- The outside and the visor of your helmet should be cleaned with S100 Helmet and visor cleaner.
Safety above all! Never drive with a scratched or dull visor. Especially at night, scratches cause blinding reflections of street lights and headlights of oncoming vehicles. This effect is even more pronounced in rainy weather. It is best to replace a scratched or dull visor as soon as possible. Planning a long trip? Then don't forget to take a replacement visor with you. Never ride in the dark with a tinted visor.
