With the Alpha Perf. you get the bottom half of a full-blown racing suit. 'Performance and protection' could be the crest of this track knight. These are the most advanced motorcycle pants DAINESE makes.
This is racing material for those who want to reach their limits. It's rarely healthy to go over the top, though you can still count on protection when you wear the Alpha Perf.
There's a lot of technology in these pants. A little namedropping? KGI, Boots-in-system, D-skin, S1, Nanofeel® and if you are not seeing stars yet, read on. We'll get to it - one by one - but everything starts with the Coat hanger. In this case: the D-skin 2.0 full-grain cowhide exterior. An exclusive construction that includes S1 elastic inserts for a very athletic fit and maximum durability. The literal hanger you use to hang these pants is a sturdy one: this is a bodybuilder, a weight lifter. A lot of body for fewer centimeters.
The outer construction is designed for comfort. Inside, the specially treated, breathable Nanofeel® lining channels the wind.
KGI then, or Knee Grip Insert technology which is pretty much what it says: an exclusive technology on the inside of the knees that enhances the grip on the bike and steering feel, with the added control that comes with it. As a result, you'll negotiate every corner with confidence. The KGI is part of a wider construction - with protected seams in that area, for example.
To really get into each corner you need to get some feedback from the bike and the track, and the easiest way to do that is through the removable knee pads, which are located just below the external aluminium knee plates. That aluminium is also perfectly replaceable, by the way. The pants are CE-approved as a whole (prEN 17092), and the standard knee and hip protectors are also certified (EN 1621.1).
The back is finished higher than the front, which is closed with a zipper and press button. The waist circumference is adjustable by a few centimeters by means of 2 velcro straps. Leather 'sets', so it's okay to start pretty tight. Accordion panels above the knee offer flexibility.
The pant legs have a zipper halfway up each calf, which makes it easy to get into the trousers and allows for some variation. At the front - shin side - velcro tabs make up the 'suit to boot' fastening system. This illustrates the racing ambitions of the Alpha, although reflective details ensure that the Alpha can actually be used on any terrain.
These are the kind of pants you'd expect from a manufacturer like DAINESE. They don't allow much in the way of mistakes, so you're bound to get top results like this one.
The jacket-pants fastening system is what we at DAINESE call the "connection zipper", so in combination with a sporty leather DAINESE jacket you can turn it into a racing suit in the blink of an eye.
