The name 'Offtrack' already gives it away: this is an adventurous touring jacket. More off-road than its asphalt brother, the Sand 3, but also lighter, phenomenally ventilated and therefore better suited to physically demanding work. Oh, and if it rains, you stay dry.
Good protection, in the broadest sense of the word, and optimal ventilation, that's what you need when you really go on an adventure. And yes, these are two extremes, but the Offtrack combines them seemingly effortlessly. With its light weight (outer material!), ample storage options and high degree of ventilation, you can ride it through the desert, but also to the North Cape. The latter we prefer to do ourselves in the summer, although the removable thermal lining also offers other possibilities. The new, also removable, Hydratex membrane has a light stretching characteristic and feels very pleasant on the skin. More importantly, it makes the Offtrack completely water- and windproof. If you take everything out, the permanent mesh on the shoulders and upper back will keep you cool anyway, and if that's not enough, just unzip the chest panels and the zippers on the sleeves. All those extra ventilation options underline the fact that the Offtrack is ideal when you're looking for the dirt tracks, where it's just that bit harder to work than on the highway.
The outer shell is a balanced mix of textiles. 450D polyester and 600D polyester stand in for abrasion and tear resistance, while 3d-air mesh and pieces of PWR|MESH provide ventilation. Everything is well-balanced and placed in the right places. Inside, the soft mesh lining catches the eye. The total result is a soft, light and flexible - almost like softshell - jacket.
The cut is typically 'touring', and therefore longer than you'd expect from, say, a race jacket, although you have to hand it to REV'IT: in whatever version, they always go for a tight fit. So don't expect flapping tarpaulins, but do expect a snug fit. You have a large part of the control, because traditionally the Dutch provide a lot of adjustment possibilities. Sliding buckle straps on the flanks (two on each side), sliders on the forearms, a snap button or two on the upper arms, an adjustable collar with YKK snap button at the top, and tension strings at the bottom of the jacket.
Protection comes in the form of standard SEEFLEX level 2 CE-protectors on shoulders and elbows, and those who wish can easily install a SEESOFT CE-level 2 back protector. The Offtrack is also prepared to contain a SEESOFT CE-level 1 chest protector. The reflective material is subtle but ample.
There is a lot of storage space in the Offtrack. Two large front pockets (velcro) and two chest pockets that double as ventilation panels, a spacious cargo bag with mesh lining on the lower back (to dry a wet membrane, for example) and at least one inner pocket on each zippable level.
A short and long connecting zipper allow a lot of combinations perfectly.
