The successor of the Voltiac was logically given the number 2. Just a bit better in terms of content, and now completely updated in terms of looks, the Voltiac pedigree remains a very competitively priced 2-in-1 for everyday use.
REV'IT has a typical cut, even for its touring jackets. Those who have never worn REV'IT before may find it short, although the back is longer to avoid a bare back. At the front, the REV'IT style has the undeniable advantage that a bulging jacket will not be a source of irritation. On the bike, where it counts, this ensures maximum comfort. The Voltiac 2 is a textile jacket made mainly of 600D polyester, with polyester ripstop in places where there is some judgement (the sleeves). New compared to the original Voltiac are the softshell pieces on the chest and upper back. It all adds up to a pretty versatile package, where a splash of water will have little to no effect.
Having said that, the real commuter also wants to get to their destination through a heavy shower. The Voltiac 2 therefore comes with a non-removable membrane, the hydratex|G-liner. This waterproof coating is applied to the inside of the liner and the seams are taped. It should come as no surprise that in the opposite direction, the breathability of the hydratex membrane was also considered. Spring and autumn are thus largely in order. During the winter you use of course the removable thermal lining. Soft, warm and comfortable. In summer, the Voltiac is equipped with a VCS|Zipper, a ventilation system that allows you to find the perfect balance between protection and ventilation by opening a few zippers on the chest. The rear vents are permanently open.
The Voltiac 2 is a relatively lightweight jacket, which may feel tight in REV'IT style. Two adjustable straps on the left and right flank serve to perfectly center the jacket and completely exclude wind play. A drawstring at the waist, velcro at the sleeve ends, a press stud at upper arm level and the 'YKK' press stud at the collar should allow the Voltiac 2 to feel 100% perfect. Two large front pockets, complemented by an inner pocket and a Napoleon pocket result in plenty of storage space.
Discrete but well-placed reflective panels and strips on the chest, back and upper arms ensure good visibility. Impact protection has been upgraded from the original Voltiac, and now consists of SEESMART CE-level 1 shoulder and elbow protectors. An optional SEESOFT CE-level 2 back protector is also available.
Price-wise, the Voltiac 2 is one of the best on the market. The short connecting zipper makes the combination with the Factor 4 pretty obvious.
