The BERING Lakefield GTX 2 is a winter motorcycle glove for motorcycle riders who continue riding all year round. Cold weather or precipitation is no reason for them to leave the motorcycle in the garage, and they dress accordingly.
Who is it for?
This motorcycle glove is intended for riders who keep riding all year round, including when temperatures drop. Winter adventure and touring rides, daily commuting in cold weather: that is what the Lakefield GTX 2 is made for.
Material
The back of the hand is made from a combination of goatskin leather and softshell, providing a good balance between wear-resistance and freedom of movement. It also looks like a fairly sturdy motorcycle glove, precisely because of the goatskin leather.
The palm is also made from goatskin leather, but here it provides firm grip and a natural feel on the handlebar. A closer look at the Lakefield GTX 2 will also reveal polyester, elastane and polyurethane.
Protection
At the knuckles, there is a pre-shaped hard knuckle protector, complemented by additional reinforcement in the palm. This motorcycle glove is certified according to EN 13594:2015 Level 1, the basic protection level for motorcycle gloves used on public roads. The little finger received a wear-resistant reinforcement.
Comfort & fit
Accordion panels on the fingers provide sufficient freedom of movement. You close the Lakefield GTX 2 around the wrist with a double wrist closure, for a precise and close fit. The cuff is notably long and slides easily underneath your motorcycle jacket sleeve, preventing cold air from entering through the wrist.
Weather protection & ventilation
The Lakefield GTX 2 features a waterproof, breathable GORE-TEX membrane that keeps rain and wind out over time without compromising feel. The lining consists of 100% mesh with recycled REPREVE® fibres, complemented by a Primaloft® thermal liner that keeps your hands warm ride after ride. The motorcycle glove has no separate ventilation openings: insulation takes priority over airflow in a winter glove.
Practical details
Thanks to the Sensor System, you can operate your smartphone or navigation system without removing the motorcycle glove. The grip zone on the palm provides additional hold on the handlebar, even in wet weather. There is no dedicated visor wiper.
Maintenance
Good, high-quality motorcycle clothing is an investment in comfort and personal safety. After your purchase, invest in its maintenance too and enjoy your gear for even longer. We have put together the best tips and tricks on this maintenance page.
The RAD specialist’s opinion
The Lakefield GTX 2 comes with one of the longest cuffs we have ever seen. The visual, arrow-shaped design in that area makes it feel even more like a genuinely long cuff. When half of our forearm disappears into it as well, we are quite certain: it is the longest cuff we have seen, or very close to it.
There are then two possibilities: either you are constantly fighting with your sleeve ends, or you can ‘control’ that cuff perfectly. Here, the latter applies. Even on the relatively narrow forearms of someone who is not a motocross rider, like us, the Lakefield GTX 2 closes neatly.
This is a motorcycle glove for riders who continue riding all year round. Feel on the handlebars and control remain good, while the Primaloft® thermal liner makes it clear that the Lakefield GTX 2 does not do things by halves.
Anyone looking for a companion for the less sunny and warm parts of the motorcycle year can certainly put this Lakefield GTX 2 on the shortlist.
