This photochromic visor fits the SCORPION EXO‑GT SP Air, EXO‑1500 Air and EXO‑530 Air. It uses pigments that react to UV radiation: the stronger the sun, the darker the visor becomes.
Within sixty seconds the visor darkens from about 85% light transmission (clear) to 20% (dark tinted). Returning to clear takes a little longer for safety reasons: after one minute transmission is about 55%, after five minutes around 70%.
Actual performance depends on temperature, humidity and riding position. In cold conditions the visor darkens faster and takes longer to return to clear. On cloudy days or at sunset the effect is less pronounced.
Attention: when you enter a tunnel, the visor will remain dark for a short while. It takes longer to become clear again than it does to darken, which can temporarily limit your vision. In such situations, lift the visor or reduce your speed. For rides with many tunnels or sudden changes in light, a regular visor is the better option.
This visor has a scratch‑resistant coating that starts to wear after about two years. Replace the photochromic visor at that point. In the meantime, clean it only with mild soap and water, never with petroleum products, solvents or glass cleaner, and store it in a cool, dark and dry place.
The photochromic effect weakens over time. Colour change becomes slower and less pronounced, or the visor no longer returns fully to clear. That is normal and you can think of a photochromic visor as having a kind of shelf life.
