The name of the Davey Air already gives it away: there are plenty of AirFlow mesh panels in this Modeka motorcycle jacket, which is therefore well-ventilated and, in this case, furnished with a removable, waterproof membrane.
Besides mesh panels, the exterior of the Davey Air is mainly a softshell construction, creating a soft-natured appearance. The removable hood adds to that look and without a motorcycle nearby, you’ll blend into an (urban) environment just like that. You can attach the hood with a press stud in the back to avoid flapping and fluttering while you ride. This is the type of motorcycle jacket you’ll want to wear all the time. However, it is still very much motorcycle gear: hardwearing and certified, with a set of B-PROTECT level 2 protectors on the shoulders and elbows. Which are – you guessed it – soft and supple. If you prefer a little more rigidity, you can opt to fit in a CE-certified back protector.
The Humax membrane can easily be (un)zipped from the Davey Air. This combination creates a motorcycle jacket that is both waterproof and ventilated. Practical, enjoyable, versatile, stylish … there’s a long list of descriptive terms available. There are individual customisation options in the form of press studs on the sleeves. There’s also a zip in the sleeves. The most important thing then is to choose the right size.
The reflective accents are small but useful. There are two slash pockets with zip on the outside and we even discovered three on the inside. If you remove the waterproof membrane, though, you’re also giving up a couple of those.
Its sharp price reveals that the Davey Air is a budget-friendly all-rounder, not a specialist. That versatility is what resulted in a Belt Loop instead of a connecting zipper.
