The goat leather Phinix is an AA-class motorcycle jacket with a purposefully aged appearance. Hence, the style and class of yore, with modern-day comfort – thanks to the notable ventilation flap in the front.
The goatskin might come as a little bit of a surprise. Nonetheless, we don’t hear any complaints about this relatively thin and supple leather motorcycle jacket. It’s enjoyable to wear, about three kilograms lighter than what you’re used to when you’re a fan of leather motorcycle jackets and just as hardwearing and sturdy. Excellent. The picture is completed thanks to the weathered seams (which is only appearance) and the diamond stitching. Leather will always (justifiably) be a cherished material.
The Phinix doesn’t bother with membranes or linings: what you see is what you get – its picture can’t really depict the lightness, enjoyable and comfortable nature of the Phinix. This is clearly a leather motorcycle jacket to be worn in summer. In the front, there’s the AirZip, a perforated ‘support flap’ (instead of a cover flap) that covers the entire length of the motorcycle jacket. That support flap has an alternative central zip that creates an additional ventilation panel when used. An additional airflow is created together with the direct ventilation zip on the chest (that hides the chest pocket).
The fact that there are no additional layers also precludes the need for individual customisation options. Simply choose the right size and head out. Leather always needs a little time to soften up, anyway. The zip at the end of the sleeves is standard and the collar has no use for a button.
The impact protection matches the idea that light and flexible are enjoyable in summer, which is why Modeka opted for the FLYING BATS on shoulders and elbows, which are barely perceptible. If you prefer a larger dose of rigidity, you can choose to fit in a CE-certified back protector.
Two slash pockets, two inner pockets and a chest pocket provide the necessary storage space.
The Phinix is best combined with motorcycle jeans and summer gloves. Sun glasses won’t be far off and neither will the jet helmet, which actually all scream café racer, custom bike or classic. Nevertheless, no matter what type of motorbike you ride, it will be hard taking the Phinix off and putting it away.
