A work boot for the bike
The Ava women's motorcycle boot takes its silhouette from the classic work boot. High instep, robust appearance and a sole with character. Alpinestars translates that into a CE-certified women's motorcycle boot that also looks great off the bike. A fine achievement.
Urban rider, daily use, three seasons
There is no membrane, so it is best not to expect waterproof performance. A puddle, splash or shower is fine, but long rides in the rain are less advisable. The Ava is a women's motorcycle boot for dry and fresh weather: from spring to autumn, preferably in the city and for short to medium-long rides. Anyone who wants to walk on after parking without immediately looking like a motorcyclist will appreciate this boot.
Full-grain cowhide, 1.4 mm
The upper is made entirely from 1.4 mm full-grain cowhide. More than solid, perfect for an urban motorcycle boot, wear-resistant enough for daily use and supple enough to break in. Leather also moulds slightly to the foot over time, which further improves comfort.
The tongue and ankle collar of the Ava are lined with soft microfibre for extra comfort in the areas that make the most contact.
Protection that makes sense
The Ava has ankle protection on both sides. The Transversal Protection Frame (TPF) protects the forefoot and supports it on the motorcycle footpeg, without restricting walking movement. The reinforced toe and heel add wear-resistance in the most vulnerable areas. The CE EN 13634:2017 certification confirms that everything is the way it should be.
Side zip, laces at the front
Putting the boot on is done via an inner side zip. The front laces determine the fit over the instep and keep everything in place. In practice, you use the laces for adjustment and the zip for everyday on-and-off use. That works smoothly, even with motorcycle gloves on.
The sole lifts the Ava
The rubber sole is robust. The tread provides grip on the footpeg and on the street. The raised build gives the Ava its recognisable silhouette and adds a visual accent that reinforces the work-boot character.
The opinion of our RAD specialist
Full-grain cowhide, a striking sole and a silhouette that does not look out of place in a fashion-conscious setting – the Ava from Alpinestars is a solid, stylish women's motorcycle boot for those who do not see protection and appearance as opposites. The Ava is a motorcycle boot that clearly draws its identity from the work-boot tradition. It works. Before specialised motorcycle boots existed, sturdy work boots were often an excellent and relatively safe solution. There is also, quite naturally, a certain degree of 'looking tough', and with a motorcycle nearby that is rarely a problem. Especially when there is also genuine impact protection and CE certification involved.
The absence of dedicated gear-shifter reinforcement may be a point to consider. The (male) writer of this text is, at this very moment, looking at a leather motorcycle boot that clearly bears the marks of a gear lever. Anyone who would rather avoid that may want to consider additional gear-shift reinforcement.
The Ava is a cool motorcycle boot. Full stop.
