It is the new, ultimate travel companion, offering unparallelled comfort and versatility. The tendency to finish waterproof membranes in such a way that they can be used inside as well as outside the motorcycle jacket – or simply wear it autonomously – opens up certain possibilities.
The Hydron is a structured puzzle that you can shuffle at will. The Hydrofex®membrane is elastic and the most important piece of the puzzle. The motorcycle jacket itself evidently has a wear and tear-resistant exterior in 750 D Tactel®, delivering a robust outer layer. Robust, because it was provided with double layers of 750 D Tactel® where needed.
Remarkable are the large ventilation panels that provide the necessary cooling. Following the AirBoost concept, you roll back the panels (you actually fold them down) to fully enjoy the incoming riding wind. In its original structure, the waterproof membrane is fitted underneath that but this can be interchanged quickly and easily.
Why would you? Because a wet exterior still results in a heavier and slow-drying motorcycle jacket and because it’s more comfortable to firmly and decisively keep water out during your ride. In that case, you simply remove the membrane from the Hydron to then put it on over your motorcycle jacket.
The Hydron has an elasticated, centring, non-adjustable strap to keep the typical touring cut (slightly lower than your waistband) somewhat compact. There are individual customisation options at the sleeves and in the waist. The Hydrofex®-membrane is longer than the exterior, which could be a little awkward at first when the membrane is worn inside the motorcycle jacket.
A versatile travel companion like this one should have the necessary storage space. The most remarkable storage compartment is the one on the back: you can detach it to be used as a hip bag. This is maybe not for everyone, but it’s a possibility. Also worth mentioning is the extra pocket on the left underarm.
SAS-TEC® offers the required impact protection. Shoulders and elbows are standard equipped with CE-approved protectors. You can easily fit in an optional back protector. The reflective material is not that conspicuous during the day but perfectly safe in the evening and at night.
The Hydron has a connecting zipper which opens all roads with regards to combinations; however, it seems apparent that the Hydron motorcycle pants are in pole position.
