With the Triomphe 2 H2O we are in today’s jungle, the metropolis. With the Triomphe 2 H2O, REV’IT! has found what they were looking for: a parka with hood and a modern-day interpretation of the motorcycle jacket ‘that’s-just-a-bit-more-than-just-a-motorbike-jacket’.
That’s a strong statement: seeing the parka as the commuter’s motorcycle gear in the urbanised world. Caribou and seal skin, fish oil as waterproof coating have all been replaced by top notch technology. This means: safety and style – with a serious wink.
Don’t let that style misguide you: the Triomphe may be a ‘back to the future’ archetype, the outer fabric (PWR|shell 2L) with integrated Hydratex®-membrane is REV’IT! -technology at its finest. Add the removable and quite beautiful lining to that and this jacket is a very complete and protective option. Just ‘jacket’, indeed. The Triomphe is not limited to the motorcycle world. By no means. This is part of the ‘Tailored Technology’ of the Dutch manufacturer: a stylish silhouette that covers a lot of motorbike knowhow.
This motorbike knowhow obviously includes a lot of attention towards impact protection. With REV’IT!’s own SEESMART™ protectors, the Triomphe jacket warrants CE-level 1-protectors on shoulders and elbows. Then, there’s the option to fit in a SEESOFT® RV or SEESOFT® Air CE-back protector. Even with all these elements, this jacket is surprisingly light and focuses primarily on the three seasons that aren’t summer.
It's still a parka so no need to talk about ventilation. Waterproofness, being all tucked in on the road, many storage options, lots of adjustment possibilities, that’s what we expect and what is completely up to par. The fit (urban, city) was given a lot of attention and with a removable lining, this means that you can make the whole thing fit as tightly as you want. The central, internal drawstring (obviously) takes care of the centered look but there’s also an elastic strap below that, in the waist. Furthermore, we found the number of pushbuttons striking: solid, decent, actually the way we’d always want pushbuttons to be.
The sleeve ends, the high collar, the fixed hood that doesn’t turn into a sail on the bike, the subtle REV’IT! logo on the arm, the laminated reflection and the long list of storage options turn this parka into a class act.
The main purpose of the Triomphe is indeed to go round the famous French roundabout, although we suspect nobody would bat an eye if you replace ‘Triomphe’ by ‘Atomium’, start off at the Amsterdam Central Station or pass by Checkpoint Charlie.
Make sure to do these things properly, with a set of motorbike shoes and motorcycle jeans or watertight overpants. The beard and tattoos of the modern hipster are optional.
