With the Tempest 3 D-Dry®motorcycle jacket, DAINESE offers one answer to the rising demand for decent, all-round and a little adventurous all-purpose jackets. Or more precise: this is now the third answer to that same question. Everybody benefits from it: besides the more adventurous riders, even the all-season riders and commuters will love this.
On the exterior, this Tempest 3 D-Dry® consists – almost obvious, we’d say – of the wear- and tear-resistant Cordura® (not unknown in this field) and the more sturdy D-Stone® for the critical areas. Below that, there’s the integrated D-Dry®membrane. Non-removable, it tells us that the Tempest 3 D-Dry® is probably at its best when it’s not high-summer, even though the ventilation openings with zipper on the chest and sleeves work just fine, just like the two outlet vents in the back.
The 130-gram heavy thermal jacket, however, gives away that the scales tip over slightly more to the colder periods. That jacket can be removed effortlessly and - thanks to a high-quality finishing – can be worn autonomously. So, without the actual motorcycle jacket and the protective material.
There are plenty of individual adjustment possibilities. On the upper-arms, DAINESE goes for a couple of pushbuttons, beside the Velcro strip at the sleeve ends. An adjustable belt with buckle in your waist allows for perfect centring of the Tempest 3 D-Dry® No luxury, given the slightly longer (touring) cut. A drawstring at the bottom gives some more adjustment options. You close the collar with (non-aggressive) Velcro; a collar hook in the shape of a pushbutton is a nice extra. A belt with buckle allows for another couple of centimetres of additional adjustment space.
A motorcycle jacket that clearly goes for the cut and style of the better touring jacket cannot lack proper storage space. Two outer pockets and two inner pockets, supplemented with a cargo bag on the back, is, however, not excessive.
Of course, there’s impact protection. You can fit an optional back protector. You can also add a (double) chest protector, if needed. The removable Pro-Armor-composite protectors on elbows and shoulders come standard. Individually certified as they are, they also contribute to the general CE-certification of the Tempest 3 D-Dry® as a whole.
The nicely finished pushbuttons, the thermal jacket, the integrated membrane… there are many assets, which in this case aren’t even that expensive. A jacket-pants fastening system, also known as the long connecting zipper, leaves many adjustment possibilities open. The Tempest 3 D-Dry®motorcycle trousers are the logical top contender.
