This full-face helmet is somewhere in the upper half of the HJC concept. In addition to its sleek and sporty styling, the F70 has a number of strengths and fits perfectly into a line of top sport-touring motorcycle helmets.
The helmet shell is made from 'advanced glass fiber'. That doesn't seem to say much, but if we explain that the 'advanced' refers mainly to the CAD technology used and the fiberglass excels at light weight and a tight fit, then we're getting closer.
Two helmet shells hold the different helmet sizes, so you're certainly not carrying unnecessary items. Good for 1540 grams on the scales. Bear in mind that there are two visors on this and that - as soon as you put on the HJC F70, you can feel it - you can count on a solid interior. The shape of the helmet shell has been developed in the wind tunnel, making it even more aerodynamic. Note, for example, the neckline of the HJC F70.
Prominently present and visible is the ACS ventilation system. The doubled chin ventilation (tilting and sliding), together with the top ventilation which is also doubled, is especially aimed at an active removal of heat and moisture. This discharge must take place at the rear where two outlets are installed for this purpose. The whole ‘outlet’ concept takes up a serious chunk of the helmet shell at the back. Despite all the inlets and outlets, the HJC F70 has a traditional, somewhat elongated shape. Only the slider at the bottom left is - especially figuratively - still out of the ordinary: you use it to operate the tinted sun visor easily and with gloves.
We can elaborate on the visors. First of all, there's the transparent, wide visor with the striking nod at the bottom. This time, the style literally links up with the bottom half of the helmet and also accentuates the very prominent nose deflector of the HJC F70. This is acceptable, because it contributes to the sporty style. Those who are less enthusiastic, or when circumstances require it, can remove the nose deflector in an instant. Anti-scratch and anti-fog, these are features to expect in this price and quality category.
The sun visor: tinted, wide, with an extra wide field of vision but also directly connected to the nose deflector, it is absolutely an important element of the HJC F70. It allows you to ride longer with the transparent visor open.
The Pinlock® lens is not only provided, it is also simply included in the box. Those who wear glasses can also rest assured: this motorcycle helmet is equipped with the necessary cutouts to make it all fit smoothly and easily.
This way, we gradually reach the inside of the HJC F70, where there is no question of 'the' interior. Of course, the removable and washable Multicool lining is always present and neutralizes any odors, but the cheek pads are interchangeable for each helmet size. In this way, the HJC F70 is a very individual motorcycle helmet, where you almost have to make an extra effort to make it fit badly. Especially when you put on the HJC F70 in the right size for the first time, you notice how all-embracing comfortable and supportive this motorcycle helmet is.
The HJC F70 is prepared for the Smart HJC communication system. In the back neck rim, a label 'Smart HJC' clearly indicates where you can fit the necessary modules.
Double-D ring is an obvious choice to close the motorcycle helmet. The wind curtain chin is present but certainly not too prominent and from the wide neck rim, executed with a great sense of detail (and red stitching), you notice that the HJC F70 really does have a place in that upper half of the HJC concept.
Maintenance tips:
- Reluctant to disassemble the interior of your helmet in order to wash it? You can also clean the interior without removing it with S100 Helmet Interior Cleaner.
- The outside and the visor of your helmet should be cleaned with S100 Helmet and Visor Cleaner.
Safety above all! Never ride with a scratched or dull visor. Especially at night, scratches cause blinding reflections of street lights and headlights of oncoming vehicles. This effect is even more pronounced in rainy weather. It is best to replace a worn visor as soon as possible. Planning a long trip? Then don't forget to take a replacement visor with you. Never ride in the dark with a tinted visor.
