The name gives it away a bit: this is a touring jacket with a laminated exterior. We'll translate: the weather is never again a concern, and the Tour Laminate ST Plus' features lean toward being on the road a lot and for a long time.
The relatively soft outer consists - technically speaking - of two layers of solto-TEX® PLUS, laminated for an almost perfect waterproof, windproof and breathable effect. The textile-polyamide outer shell and the membrane form a single unit, which means the jacket doesn't get wet all the way through.
Quickly dry outside and never wet inside, that tends to perfection. A moisture-absorbing and highly breathable mesh lining with water barrier ensures an optimal climate, and you know instantly that the Tour Laminate ST Plus is a pleasant place to be. Also, because the removable thermal lining lets you file away the worst extremes. Ventilation zippers are limited to the back and flanks: unzipping a laminated shell is against the principle and the Tour Laminate ST Plus is as mentioned specifically developed with a healthy climate in mind.
IXS gave this jacket a touring cut that fits the name and that translates into a longer back and slightly shorter front. As a whole, the Tour Laminate ST Plus falls as you would expect: a tad lower and longer than a sporty racing jacket. The back covers your lower back in a sitting motorcycle position, while the front doesn't bulge. That's the idea, and it's been put to good use here.
More fabric also means more options. Two centering straps with velcro for example, and an elastic drawstring at the bottom of the hem. Besides a double adjustment possibility (velcro) on lower and upper arms. Velcro is also the material used on the collar and sleeve ends, both designed with great attention to comfort.
A jacket with 'tour' in the name is bound to have enough storage space. That means six outer pockets, two inner pockets and a zippered napoleon pocket to safely store your papers. The large storage pocket on the lower back is an added bonus.
In the 'safety' department, attention goes to the CE certified impacTec ETP-01 shoulder and elbow protectors. The latter are adjustable in height. By the way, forget the shells or hard, rigid plates of days gone by: this is flexible and moveable. A CE-certified back protector is included as standard. The silver-colored reflective strips are an added value in terms of visibility in poor conditions.
The connection zipper in the Tour Laminate ST Plus is one that asks for a connection with the motorbike pants of the same name, and that results in a brilliant combination.
