The new, all-black Packtalk Bold uses 45 mm JBL speakers and that's definitely a plus. It's like the weakest link: Technically good intercoms are nice - especially when they're black - but it's where the sound flows that really makes the difference.
JBL is an extra trump card in this respect. Without a doubt. For more than 70 years the Americans are experts in speakers. Couple that with Cardo's passion for "being on the road on your motorcycle and still being able to listen and talk" (in short: intercom) and you know that their cooperation takes everything to a higher, much higher level. Without weak links.
Of course, the Packtalk Bold JBL features DMC™, the communications technology that has raised biking in a group to a new level. Never before have so many riders been able to communicate full duplex with each other simultaneously!
At Cardo they have confidence in their own abilities because this new intercom module is guaranteed for three (3) years.
What is DMC™?
In group communication via a Bluetooth connection, all bikers are connected to each other like a chain. If one of the links in the chain fails, the connection must be re-established and communication is temporarily not possible. DMC™ makes this a thing of the past, as all bikers are dynamically connected via a virtual network. Communication is not affected if one of the bikers leaves the group or rejoins it, the network adapts automatically at lightning speed.
In addition to this technology, the Bold JBL is equipped with the latest Bluetooth® chip. Both technologies work simultaneously and smoothly together. This provides the system with a wide range of connection possibilities with Bluetooth® devices, the system is compatible with other Scala Rider models. Even with other brands!

General remark: The electronics world (which also includes intercoms, smartphones, GPS, etc.) is changing so fast, that it is possible that some (outdated) devices are not compatible with each other in certain areas. Unfortunately, the manufacturer can't provide us with data that shows which combinations between intercoms/GPS's and/or smartphones cause problems. A regular update of all electronic devices is therefore desirable to avoid problems as much as possible.
