The RPHA-70 Carbon Solid is the improved successor to the 'regular' (well…) HJC RPHA-70. It contains a great many elements that you also see in the high-end RPHA-11 (Solid Carbon), so you can consider it the sport-touring helmet version of the top racing model.
The helmet shell is also manufactured using the PIM Plus Carbon, the Premium Integrated Matrix method. The proportion of carbon has risen sharply compared with previous models, making for an even lighter helmet. And that was already just over 1300 grams. In other words: more comfort. Safety is not compromised, thanks to 'enhanced Shock-Resistant performance'. The different helmet sizes of this motorcycle helmet are divided over three helmet shells.
On the chin there are three vents: two closable ones that blow directly on the inside of the visor to prevent fogging, and one closable one that provides fresh air to the rider. Two top vents and as many (non-closable) outlets serve to circulate the riding wind. Everything is connected via the "ACS" system (Advanced Channeling Ventilation), integrated air channels in the inner shell that distribute incoming fresh air.
The RPHA-70 Carbon Solid comes standard with a transparent visor made from scratch-resistant material. Thanks to the RapidFire Shield Replacement System, the visor can be easily replaced without tools, if necessary, with a visor in a different color. The visor is equipped for the installation of a Pinlock lens, which comes standard with the motorcycle helmet. The visor can be locked in closed position. As a sporty touring helmet, the RPHA-70 Carbon Solid gets an integrated sun visor. The controls are located at the bottom left side, and even on the road, with motorcycle gloves, it all runs very smoothly. This is the biggest difference with the "big" RPHA-11 Solid Carbon racing brother, where, for obvious reasons, they prefer to change visors immediately.
A treatment on the outside of the visor with Rain-X anti-rain spray improves visibility during rain showers.
The RPHA-70 Carbon Solid's soft and padded chin strap also gets a Double-D ring buckle, the only one allowed on the race circuit. In the event of an emergency, emergency services can more easily remove the motorcycle helmet by releasing the Emergency Cheek Pads.
The interior of the RPHA-70 Carbon Solid is made of Multicool and treated with Polygene technology. This improves the removal of perspiration, while the superior anti-bacterial action prevents unpleasant odors. The interior is removable and hand washable.
As you would expect from a top motorcycle helmet, the RPHA-70 Solid Carbon comes with a nose deflector and cutouts for glasses wearers. This motorcycle helmet is prepared for the installation of the Smart HJC intercom.
In some countries (e.g., France), it is mandatory to have reflective stickers on your helmet. The RPHA-70 comes without these reflective stickers. Reflective sticker sets can be found here.
Maintenance tips:
- Reluctant to disassemble the interior of your helmet in order to wash it? You can also clean the interior without removing it with S100 Helmet Interior Cleaner.
- The outside and the visor of your helmet should be cleaned with S100 Helmet and visor cleaner.
Safety above all! Never ride with a scratched or dull visor. Especially at night, scratches cause blinding reflections of street lights and headlights of oncoming vehicles. This effect is even more pronounced in rainy weather. It is best to replace a worn visor as soon as possible. Planning a long trip? Then don't forget to take a replacement visor with you. Never ride in the dark with a tinted visor.
