The V30 from HJC is a real 'bucket'. Visually anyway, because it has the content of a contemporary, modern jet helmet. As successor to the very successful FG-70S, expectations are high, but the HJC V30 definitely lives up to them.
HJC has two helmet shells to accommodate all helmet sizes. The helmet shell is manufactured in Advanced Fiberglass Composite, using CAD technology in function of a superior fit and comfort. The result is a weight of just 1100 grams, which is not too bad for a jet helmet with an integrated sun visor.
Like its predecessor, the HJC V30 is equipped with a tinted sun visor that can be replaced if necessary. It is a bit longer than its predecessor’s, it can be lowered in three stages to the nose and therefore provides a lot more protection. The sun visor is equipped with two handy tabs to make it easier to handle, even when wearing motorbike gloves. Gone are the snaps for a possible sun visor and - in times of helmet goggles that wear anti-slip silicone - an extra fastening element for loose goggles at the back of the jet helmet is not even needed anymore.
About the Silvercool™ interior we can be brief but powerful: top quality. Moisture-regulating, antibacterial, finished in leather and suede, removable and washable elements, it doesn't get much better than that. There are cut-outs to possibly fit the speakers of a communication system.
The chinstrap of the V30 is equipped with a micrometric quick-release buckle. This makes it very easy to adjust. Everything feels very comfortable and natural at all times.
In some countries (e.g., France) it is compulsory to have reflective stickers on your helmet. The V30 is delivered without these reflective decals. Reflective sticker sets can be found here.
Maintenance tips:
- Do you cringe at disassembling the interior of your helmet in order to wash it? You can also clean the interior without removing it with S100 Helmet Interior Cleaner.
- The outside and the visor of your helmet should be cleaned with S100 Helmet and Visor Cleaner.
Safety above all! Never drive with a scratched or dull visor. Especially at night, scratches cause blinding reflections of street lights and headlights of oncoming vehicles. This effect is even more pronounced in rainy weather. It is best to replace a scratched or dull visor as soon as possible. Planning a long trip? Then don't forget to take a replacement visor with you. Never ride in the dark with a tinted visor.
