The design is sleek and sporty - thanks to the NMT paint technology – and the matte colors are even more striking. The outer shell of this iXS 218 is made of polycarbonate and one helmet shell contains all sizes. This results in a lightweight helmet and if we then tell you that, in addition to the sun visor cover, you have a transparent visor as well as an integrated sun visor, then that is quite surprising. The clear, scratch-resistant quick-release visor is basic but good. It is Pinlock®-ready. When flipped open, the integrated sun visor leaves just a little space between the chin piece and the nose deflector. In the tradition of enduro and dual sport, the chin guard even allows sufficient space to get enough oxygen into your body and muscles, even during serious physical exertion.
A lockable, double top ventilation and an equally lockable chin vent guarantee sufficient air circulation. The ventilation openings are easy to open or close, even with motorcycle gloves on. At the back there is the much-needed wind outlet. Keeping your head cool seems to be a certainty.
The inside is of the soft and pleasant kind, where clear attention was paid to good ventilation. The length-adjustable micrometric closure, which can be adjusted in length, ensures that the helmet stays in place perfectly. In some countries (e.g., France), it is mandatory to provide your helmet with reflective stickers. The iXS 218 comes without these reflective stickers. Reflective decal sets can be found here.
Maintenance tips:
- Do you cringe at disassembling the interior of your helmet to then wash it? You can also clean the interior without removing it with S100 Helmet Interior Cleaner.
- The outside and the visor of your helmet should be cleaned with S100 Helmet and visor Cleaner.
Safety above all! Never ride with a scratched or matted visor. Especially at night, scratches cause blinding reflections of street lights and headlights of oncoming vehicles. This effect is even more pronounced in rainy weather. It is best to replace a worn visor as soon as possible. Planning a long trip? Then don't forget to take a replacement visor with you. Never ride in the dark with a tinted visor.
