Two worlds, one motorcycle helmet
The Hornet ADV 06 is Shoei's adventure motorcycle helmet for riders who regularly switch between asphalt and unpaved terrain. The silhouette is unmistakably Hornet: the robust lines of a fairly pure motocross-style helmet combined with the full protection of a full-face helmet. Shoei chose not to change this familiar design too drastically, for this second version.
Second version? Exactly. The ‘06’ refers to the ECE 22.06 homologation, and conveniently also reminds you that we are in 2026 for the introduction of this motorcycle helmet.
AIM+, multiple shell sizes
The motorcycle helmet shell is built from AIM+, Shoei's composite material that combines fibreglass, organic fibres and nylon layers, delivering a strong shell that still remains comfortable for its class. The Hornet ADV 06 is not heavy, but nor should you expect an ultra-light carbon helmet. For an adventure motorcycle helmet in this segment, the weight is right where it should. Shoei uses multiple motorcycle helmet shell sizes, to make sure the motorcycle helmet is not bigger or heavier than needed in the smaller sizes.
Ventilation improved at riders' request
The ventilation has been thoroughly revised compared with the previous generation, partly at the request of fans of the original model. Airflow through the helmet is noticeably improved: intake vents on the head and chin work together with six outlet vents at the rear and around the neck. That system works both at speed and on slower off-road sections.
The removable peak (V-460 Peak) has been aerodynamically refined. At higher speeds it helps keep the motorcycle helmet stable, while off-road it adds extra protection. Shoei taking the aerodynamics of an adventure peak seriously is not something you see every day in this segment.
Visor
- The CNS-2 visor is scratch-resistant and Pinlock-ready. The Pinlock lens is supplied as standard.
- The visor changes quickly and without tools.
- There is no integrated sun visor. Many motorcycle helmets in this price range now have one, including other Shoei models. The Hornet ADV 06, however, is explicitly off-road-focused, and an internal sun visor would interfere with the larger ventilation channels that were clearly a priority here. A deliberate choice, then.
Closure
The Hornet ADV 06 closes with a double D-ring. Traditional, secure and the only closure permitted for motorcycle helmets in competition use. It takes a bit of getting used to for daily riding.
Interior and comfort
- 3D centre pad and cheek pads in four thicknesses (31, 35, 39 and 43 mm) for a personalised fit
- All pads removable and washable
- Ear pads included
- Prepared for intercom installation
- E.Q.R.S. system: cheek pads can be removed quickly in emergency situations
Certification
The Shoei Hornet ADV 06 is homologated to ECE 22.06. Shoei gives a five-year warranty on this motorcycle helmet.
The opinion of our RAD specialist
The Hornet ADV 06 is not a revolution but a refinement, and that is exactly what owners of the previous version asked for. The improved airflow is the most tangible upgrade; the familiar Hornet design remains intact. The absence of a sun visor is a real trade-off, but anyone who rides off-road seriously will understand the logic. AIM+ is a proven Shoei choice, and the weight sits where it should for this category. This is a solid premium adventure motorcycle helmet that does what it promises.
Reflective stickers and maintenance
In some countries (such as France), it is mandatory to fit reflective stickers to your motorcycle helmet. The Shoei Hornet ADV 06 is supplied with these reflective stickers.
Maintenance tips:
- Dreading dismantling the interior to wash it? You can also clean the helmet interior without removing it using S100 Helmet Interior Cleaner.
- Clean the exterior and visor of your motorcycle helmet with S100 Helmet and Visor Cleaner.
Safety first!
Never ride with a scratched or hazy visor. At night especially, scratches create blinding reflections from streetlights and oncoming headlights. In rain, this effect is even more pronounced. Replace a worn visor as soon as possible. Planning a long trip? Do not forget to take a spare visor with you. Never ride in the dark with a tinted visor.
