A jet helmet with ambitions
You choose a jet helmet for the open feeling: high visibility, airflow and contact with the surroundings. The Scorpion EXO-GT Jet adds a composite shell and a range of technical details to that that are definitely not always found at this price point. The result is a motorcycle helmet that does not hide its urban roots, but still brings more to the table than the average model in this segment.
City, commuting and more
The EXO-GT Jet suits riders who spend time in traffic every day and value comfort and visibility. Its open construction makes it pleasant in warm weather and urban environments. The “GT” naturally adds an extra element here.
Riders covering long distances at higher speeds will usually experience more wind noise in a jet helmet than in a full-face helmet: that is inherent to the type, not specific to this motorcycle helmet.
Hybrid composite shell, 1400 grams
The shell of the EXO-GT Jet combines short fibres and 3K carbon weave, which Scorpion calls TCT Ultra Fusion. It is a hybrid composite construction: stronger and lighter than pure polycarbonate, but not full carbon. The weight is 1400 grams, which is typical for this type of construction and helmet category. At the rear there is a small spoiler that directs airflow around the helmet and helps reduce wind noise. Again: the “GT”.
Visor
- Clear visor, fitted as standard, scratch-resistant (HD/HD coating).
- Pinlock 200 included: not something you always get at this level.
- Built-in sun visor (SpeedView), retractable, with EverClear anti-fog coating and a scratch-resistant finish (HD/HD).
- The clear visor locks into two slots at the bottom of the motorcycle helmet, creating slight resistance and preventing the visor from fluttering while riding.
Ventilation
The EXO-GT Jet uses what Scorpion calls an “aero-tuned shell shape”: the geometry is designed to guide air actively along and through the helmet. The actual vents are, of course, located at the top and rear. A jet helmet is more about a noticeable airflow by nature.
Interior and comfort
- KwikWick III liner: moisture-wicking, antibacterial, fully removable and washable.
- 3D Foam Fit padding for adaptation to the shape of the head.
- Speaker channels for a communication system are built into the EPS.
- An integrated cut-out is provided for Scorpion’s own EXOCOM LINK-1/1C. Other systems can also be integrated via the speaker channels.
Closure
The EXO-GT Jet is equipped with a quick-release buckle with safety system. In the event of an accident, rescue services can remove the cheek pads to take off the motorcycle helmet safely without neck risk. It is quick and easy to use, even with gloves on.
Certification
The EXO-GT Jet is certified to ECE R22.06, the current European safety standard for motorcycle helmets.
The opinion of our RAD specialist
If you think of a “cheap bucket” when you think of a jet helmet, you are looking in the wrong place. The EXO-GT Jet is a seriously capable jet helmet for riders who do not want to compromise on materials or finish.
The composite shell, the included Pinlock 200 lens and the built-in sun visor make this a well-equipped model. The price is accordingly in jet-helmet territory, but in practice you are buying something close to a full-face helmet without the chin bar. Riders who care little about extras and choose a jet helmet mainly for the feeling of freedom will certainly find lighter and cheaper open face alternatives. Riders who want to use a jet helmet on the motorway at any time, and not only when it is above thirty degrees, will find a good companion in this EXO-GT Jet.
This is the better stuff, and anyone who has the luxury of more than one motorcycle helmet in the cupboard should definitely consider it.
Reflective stickers and maintenance
In some countries, such as France, it is mandatory to fit your motorcycle helmet with reflective stickers. The Scorpion EXO-GT Jet is supplied without these reflective stickers. Reflective sticker sets are available separately here.
Maintenance tips:
- If you dread removing the motorcycle helmet interior to wash it, you can also clean the interior without taking it out using S100 Helmet Interior Cleaner.
- The outside and visor of your motorcycle helmet are best cleaned with S100 Helmet and Visor Cleaner.
Safety first!
Never ride with a scratched or dull visor. At night in particular, scratches create a blinding reflection of streetlights and oncoming headlights. In rainy weather, this effect is even more pronounced. A worn visor should be replaced as soon as possible. Planning a long trip? Be sure to take a replacement visor with you. Never ride in the dark with a tinted visor.
