The Andes Pro Drystar XF is the waterproof, laminated version of a motorcycle trouser with a lot of history and even more variations. Here Alpinestars opts for a 3-layer stretch laminate construction. The waterproofing is thus permanently and inseparably part of the outer shell.
That has advantages. Water stays on the outside thanks to the laminated construction and the actual motorcycle trouser therefore dries faster than when a membrane is on the inside. The specific qualities and the construction are specs that you also find with the better outdoor brands. The fully welded leg seams underscore the waterproof ambitions of the Andes Pro Drystar XF. Even the pockets are waterproof finished with sealed seams.
A removable thermal lining is present for those motorcycle rides that take you – whether or not in the Andes – to great heights. The thermal lining is divided into zones: with 120 grams of insulation from seat to above the knee and 80 grams below, there is definitely logic in it. It also makes the Andes Pro Drystar XF a bit lighter. The latter is not the same as 'light': this remains a sturdy motorcycle trouser. For the tough work too. On warmer days the direct ventilation system does open up an airflow, but everything about the Andes Pro Drystar XF seems to emphasise that 'hot summers' are not the preferred terrain.
Goat leather reinforcements on the inside of the knees provide grip on the tank and extra wear-resistance. Dobby textile on the lower legs reinforces the zones where your motorcycle boots rub. At the bottom of the motorcycle trouser, two Velcro strips but especially the long zip between them are handy for experimenting with the best motorcycle footwear.
The impact protection consists of Nucleon Flex Pro knee protectors (CE level 2) and Bio-Flex hip protectors (CE level 1). These motorcycle trousers are CE AA-certified.
You close the waist with a magnetic buckle, a press stud and a zip. There are plenty of individual adjustment options. A connection zip makes linking with the Andes Pro Drystar XF motorcycle jacket smooth. That combination is no coincidence: together they form a complete adventure kit for those who do not shy away from extreme weather conditions.
