Skate style, motorcycle protection
The Alpinestars Ride-63 looks like a classic skate shoe. Under that first impression lies a CE-certified motorcycle shoe (EN 13634:2017). This is for riders who move smoothly through the city and through life, who would rather not wear a full-spec motorcycle boot but also refuse to compromise on protection. And for anyone who thinks appearance matters too, because the Alpinestars Ride-63 looks more than fine.
Who are the Ride-63 Leather motorcycle shoes for?
The daily commute, across the city, during the week or at the weekend, on and off the bike. The Alpinestars Ride-63 is a lightweight motorcycle shoe, has no membrane and is not waterproof: deliberately so.
Ventilation and wearing comfort come first. For rain or cold weather, you are better off choosing motorcycle footwear with a (waterproof) membrane.
Leather, nubuck, vulcanised sole
The upper of the Ride-63 motorcycle shoe consists of leather and nubuck, with split-suede reinforcements on the heel and side. The mesh lining creates comfort and prevents hot feet. A removable OrthoLite insole provides cushioning and even more breathability. The oil-resistant vulcanised rubber sole has a specific tread pattern for better grip on the footpegs.
What about protection?
- Dual-density TPU ankle protectors on both sides of the Ride-63 are an excellent standard.
- The Transversal Protection Frame (TPF) protects the midfoot area when it sits on the footpeg.
- The toe and heel are reinforced.
- The left foot has a dedicated gear-shift reinforcement that prevents premature wear of the motorcycle shoe.
The opinion of our RAD specialist
The Alpinestars Ride-63 is a motorcycle shoe for riders who may not even want one? The leather and skate aesthetic do their job very well. This looks good, this can easily pass for a sneaker, and with the TPU ankle protectors and TPF you are not just riding around in an ordinary shoe either. Because not everyone needs racing gear, and because most journeys should be smooth and quick, without full changing sessions and extra luggage space for spare clothing, a motorcycle shoe like this will always make sense. Bet you will end up wearing these off the bike too?
They are not made for extreme weather conditions, and a rain shower on the road can be annoying, but if you use the Alpinestars Ride-63 motorcycle shoes in the conditions they were made for, they will prove to be excellent companions.
