• Not ventilated: waterproof shoes or boots with a membrane allow very little air to pass, keeping the foot dry but offering no active ventilation.

• Synthetic leather: man-made material resembling leather, lightweight and often water-repellent. Synthetic leather is easy to maintain and affordable, but offers slightly less breathability and wear resistance than genuine leather.
• Leather: natural material providing excellent breathability, durability, and protection. Leather shoes and boots often mold to the foot over time, but require regular care to protect against moisture.
• Textile: lightweight and breathable material, often used in ventilated or sporty models. Textile provides comfort and airflow but less wear resistance and protection than leather or synthetic leather, and is usually not waterproof without an additional membrane.

The outer material of motorcycle shoes and boots largely determines protection, durability, and wearing comfort. Manufacturers use various materials or combinations thereof, depending on the intended use, style, and desired characteristics of each model.
