Well, this isn’t really Kryptonite - as in, the element that takes away all of Superman's powers. The Kryptonite 2 GTX is just a very strong motorcycle glove. Gore Grip technology, GORE-TEX®, warm, waterproof and relatively short. We are fans.
And 'we' refers to all riders who don't like that little gap that always occurs between your sleeve ends and your long winter glove. Which is always - especially the latter - difficult to put on properly. No, then the Kryptonite 2 GTX with Gore Grip technology is a relief. A rather neutral look and a striking construction with a knitted, well-fitting cuff under the actual motorcycle glove, they are indicative of the municipal, urban, commuting, city ... context in which these Kryptonite 2 GTX motorcycle gloves come into their own.
The waterproof element in these gloves comes almost entirely from the GORE TEX® membrane. Breathable, waterproof, dry and still elegant - it is possible. A soft (3M™ Thinsulate® G and High loft fur) lining will give you the right feeling from the start: warm and wintery, they do go together. The outer shell is made of goatskin leather (palm and fingertips) and textile (back of the hand) and the combination - especially the safety shield that they form together - is recognized by REV'IT! as PWR|SHEL.
Outwardly, the hard knuckle protector is the most obvious 'motorcycle' element in this very handsome motorcycle glove. The most obvious, not the only one. Temperfoam on the palm of the hand and TPR finger protection are valuable additions. You notice immediately that this Kryptonite 2 GTX is able to withstand one thing and another.
The fit, with a close-fitting knit cuff that seems to come from under the actual motorcycle glove, may take some getting used to for the enthusiast of longer gloves. The Kryptonite 2 GTX is worn underneath the jacket, that much is clear, and then you get all the advantages of a short motor glove (dexterity, comfort, flexibility) suddenly linked to the positive and weather resistant qualities of a long glove.
The fingertips are GPS and smartphone compatible, and with a Flock PU visor wiper, everything is in place to ride through the winter without a lot of hassle. The obligatory closure consists of a velcro strip under the thumb. The REV'IT logo on the back of the hand is laminated reflective material.
Flock PU is REV'IT!’s alternative to rubber or plastic visor wipers. They always start out soft and flexible, but - according to the REV'IT R&D team - sooner or later they end up smearing the lenses. Plus, the hard plastic stripes that’s there, how often do you really use it? That's why REV'IT! chooses to create an L-shaped (left hand) piece of Flock PU which is softer and more flexible, and has the same wiping function. The first two showers we had to get used to it. The wiping movement you make is different from when you have a (protruding) strip of semi-soft rubber. Replacing the L-shape by your straight, raised index finger, can help. It takes some practice, but it is certainly an alternative.
