The Scout 2 is a logical, but at the same time far-reaching evolution of a classic from the touring segment (the ‘regular’ Scout). With a bunch of new elements and a breathable GORE-TEX® membrane, there are plenty of options.
The Scout’s technology is fantastic, and if you avoid southern summers a little, you should be able to use them throughout all four seasons. The Thermal Primaloft lining is tangibly present, and the fourth season - summer - is more and more the topic for true summer gloves.
Goatskin leather is still a good choice when it comes to versatile gloves, and although Amica on the palm is the weapon of choice, DAINESE provides plenty of reinforcements and extras in leather: on the palm, the fingers and in all the logical places. Amica-suede is just as much of a hard-wearing security.
Grip is excellent. Partly due to the presence of all that goatskin leather. Although at first sight these seem to be rather thick, perhaps a bit wintery motorcycle gloves, you can still easily take a ballpoint pen from off the table. A somewhat thicker one anyway. Not that you’ll need it, because the DAINESE Smart Touch works well on any smartphone and touchscreen and moreover, controlling a motorcycle requires just a little less finesse.
The rather bulky TECHNO™ knuckle protector and a prominent polyurethane slider on the palm of the hand are, of course, elements which don't immediately narrow down the overall appearance, but at no point does it feel like you're sacrificing contact, grip or motoring skills. The wintery view is perhaps somewhat misleading, and is mainly the result of all the assets that the Scout 2 has on board.
The long and cleverly finished cuff is also a typical 'winter' element. It's mainly the elastic band which allows you to connect the glove to the wrist. A visor wiper (left thumb), the reflective strips, enough elastic elements to keep it all very pleasant and comfortable ... all the attention is drawn to things that push the Scout 2 one level up. The GORE TEX® membrane remains invisible.
This is a good, protective top glove, and one that will appeal to frequent riders, commuters, and all-season riders in particular, who will find tons of enjoyment in this glove. Although you can also just keep them on for your Sunday fun ride. The Scout 2 motorcycle gloves are CE-certified, Cat. II and EN13594, level 1.
