These are real, robust, goatskin leather winter gloves. Well lined, safe and without many bells and whistles, but perfectly functional and waterproof. At a sharp price.
Hands in winter, it's rarely easy. With the Comfort-ST, IXS makes a very meritorious attempt and hoists almost all available technology on board this long winter glove. The outside is goatskin, the inside is polyester. But it's mainly what you don't see that makes the difference: the waterproof, breathable solto-TEX® membrane and the Thinsulate® insulation layer, which is three times thicker on the back of the hand than on the palm, to name the two most important aspects. The result is a warm glove, while maintaining a good steering feel.
The palm (leather) received a double layer of Amara. The outside of the little finger was also reinforced. The result is more sturdiness. At the same time the accordion fabric on the fingers makes sure you don't give up anything in terms of mobility. Knuckle protection is of the invisible, soft and flexible kind. Good, without being a nuisance. It was awarded the Comfort-ST an EN13594:2015 safety label.
The visor wiper on the left index finger illustrates that this is indeed a contemporary glove, even though the quasi-all-leather look would suggest otherwise. If you really end up in a downpour, the 'water limit' at the bottom of the cuff prevents you from getting your hands wet, and the visor wiper is located on a layer of suede that allows you to keep wiping even in the shower. With the index finger, you can also operate your smartphone.
Under the hand, the wide flared cuff by means of a velcro strip fits well. You can decide for yourself whether to wear this glove under or over the jacket: a wide velcro strip at the bottom leaves the choice completely up to you.
There is also reflective material, albeit very subtle, on top of the accordion fabric on the fingers and diagonally across the back of the hand.
