It looks like a solid motorcycle boot but feels like a sneaker. Waterproof too, courtesy of the GORE-TEX® membrane. Daytona packs a lot of punch in one all-rounder.
For those who get anxious when looking at the picture: the Daytona logo is in reality a lot less white and conspicuous. That's just a sidenote, because the logo also reflects and that's another plus.
Anyway, the outside of the AC Dry GTX consists of a mixture of smooth leather, perforated leather and Nubuck leather. It is clear that leather is the greatest common denominator and always a good choice when it comes to motorcycle footwear. With a high protective factor, the combination is mainly a matter of comfort. The real added value of this shoe - a boot or a sneaker would have done as well - lies just beneath the leather: the integrated GORE-TEX® membrane is breathable, waterproof and in any case of high quality. The AC Dry GTX is constructed like a sock: closed, in one piece, up to the ankle. It makes little sense to integrate waterproof membranes if the openings continue to the sole. So don't look for a zipper. Just slip it on and close it with the laces. And because laces have other disadvantages, Daytona opts for a Microlock system which prevents the loops from getting caught behind foot brakes or gear levers. For the sake of completeness: there is a shift reinforcement for the gear lever.
The shaft is about 20 centimeters high and elastic at the top, just to make getting on and off easier and smoother. Inside you risk ending up in a microclimate, so the insole is one with climatological properties. Read: in combination with the breathable GORE-TEX® your feet will always be comfortable. Also because the insole is equipped with anatomical technology.
Impact protection is, of course, also provided. Quite a lot, in fact. The double-sided ankle protectors are placed internally, toe and heel are stronger than in a traditional shoe and the AC Dry GTX conceals open cells filled with foam at the (inside of the) ankle. Ankles, legs and feet like a predictable up and down movement, by the way, and tend to break if you turn the joint too suddenly, so Daytona integrated extra reinforcements in the galvanized anti-slip sole.
A tough shoe. A tough sneaker. A strong boot. All in one. That's the Daytona AC Dry GTX.
