This black Janika are excellent, versatile motorbike pants for women. A waterproof 2-in-1 with a very competitive quality-to-price ratio.
The exterior of the Janika is made of 600D polyester, which gives these textile pants a high degree of wear and tear resistance. The polyester gives the impression of being waterproof, and a few drops won't do any harm, but the real waterproofing is situated under the outer layer. Modeka prefers to use the breathable and waterproof Hitex® membrane, and justifiably so. Hitex® has windproof properties, as well. Together, this results in a pair of pants that can stand up to the circumstances. The membrane can be easily zipped or unzipped.
The Air Vent System consists of two ventilation openings, situated on the upper legs. You can easily unzip them even when you're on the road. Or zip them.
Of course we expect the necessary impact protection from motorcycle pants and Modeka has opted for CE-certified (EN 1621-1:2012) knee protectors. They are sturdy and yet quite flexible, which is a good thing considering the position and function of the knee. Hip protectors are optional: Modeka suggests the SAS-TEC SC-1/07 as most suitable choice.
With a high back and accordion stripes on the knees and the back, the Janika is a comfortable pair of pants. The elastic bands on the waist contribute to this, although you can make some adjustments yourself by using two wide velcro strips.
There are no other adjustment possibilities, although the half-length zippers at the bottom of each pant leg make it easy to put on and take off Janika. Two side pockets offer the necessary storage space, and the reflective material on the lower legs increases visibility in bad conditions. The closure consists of a zipper with push button and velcro.
Thanks to the long and short connecting zipper, you can zip and combine with almost the entire Modeka range.
