A motorcycle helmet today must comply with the homologation standard ECE-R 22/05, ECE-R 22/06 or if your ambitions go towards the race track, FIM FRHPhe-01. Which basically means that the safety of the helmet has been extensively tested and proven. Every motorcycle helmet you can buy from RAD is compliant with one of these standards and is allowed on European public roads. Important to know, you are just as protected with an 22/05 as with an 22/06 approved motorcycle helmet.

A number of distinct types stand out ...

The modular helmet with a chin guard raising mechanism is aimed at touring riders and commuters who ride often and want to combine the advantages of the full-face helmet with those of the jet helmet.

The flip-back helmet is similar to a modular helmet, but its chin bar folds all the way to the back of the helmet instead of resting on top. The advantage is a more stable and aerodynamic feel when open, with no protruding parts catching the wind. It combines the safety and protection of a full-face helmet with the comfort and freedom of an open-face helmet, ideal for switching between long trips and relaxed touring.

A full-face helmet is pretty much the standard. Originally mainly sport-oriented – because a helmet that is as fully closed as possible offers the best protection – this has evolved into an all-round helmet type that will suit both the rider of a 50cc scooter and the motorcyclist on his 1200 adventure. Full-face helmets are also warmer in winter.

The jet helmet also sometimes called "that piss pot", can be very retro today or combine all the modern features of a helmet with a long visor. In all cases there is no chin guard and that is the biggest advantage. And its biggest disadvantage.
Jet helmets are decidedly summery, but they are universal in use: choppers, retros, scooters, touring ... in fact, they can be used for everything.

A scooter helmet is a simple and often more affordable helmet that provides the necessary protection for daily city rides. Thanks to its attractive price and practicality, it is an ideal choice for riders looking for a budget-friendly and comfortable solution.

The adventure helmet is aimed at riders who enjoy adventurous touring. It combines the benefits of a motocross helmet with those of a full-face helmet, best described as a cross helmet with a fixed visor. The peak protects against sun and debris, the fixed visor increases comfort, and the chin bar makes it easier to breathe during intense efforts.

If you prefer only the first, then a motocross helmet is more your cup of tea. These helmets put the emphasis on off-road and everything that comes with it: mud, slush, dust, sun ...

Finally, the children's motorcycle helmet are less pronounced in style, intended for smaller head sizes and just as functional as their larger counterparts.
