The Desmo by ROOF is - once again - an example of style, innovation and sophistication. With a fully retractable chin guard there are many possibilities. And they are allowed, because of the double homologation as jet and full-face helmet.
The outer shell in polycarbonate accommodates all helmet sizes. Externally, the Desmo is similar to the original version of the ROOF Boxer from which it is derived, although it is quieter and you have a freer feeling in the more generous (and on the outside, pointier) chin. The same chin guard can be opened with one hand. While riding. That is not necessary if you only want to feel the wind. Ventilation is not something to discuss, unless in a positive sense. A large air vent on the chin guard, top ventilation and the opening at the rear are more than enough to accentuate that free feeling. All inlets and outlets are of course closable.
The chin guard is operated by means of a centrally placed red button. That is the 'normal' place for it, although everyone who is familiar with ROOF knows that in this case it is worth mentioning.
The standard visor of this ROOF Desmo is transparent and equipped with both an anti-fog coating and an anti-scratch coating. Opening and closing of the chin guard - independent of the visor and yet not - is an experience in itself. Pay particular attention to the slight shift of the visor and the space that is created or disappears between visor and helmet shell. Delightful. The standard visor can easily be exchanged for a mirror visor.Furthermore: rain hardly gets a chance to wriggle its way in, anyway, thanks to the goggle-like seal.
The lining is as expected removable and washable. The interior of the Desmo dampens sound and spectacle wearers will never have anything to complain about with ROOF.
The buckle is of the adjustable, micrometric kind.
For maintenance of this helmet we recommend S100 helmet and visor cleaner for the outside. To clean the interior, without removing it, you can use S100 helmet interior cleaner. New visors have received a water-repellent treatment. This treatment is less effective after some time. Restore the water-repellent effect with Rain-X anti-rain spray.
The reflective stickers that are mandatory in France to stick on the helmet are included.
Safety above all! Never ride with a scratched or dull visor. Especially at night, scratches or dullness cause blinding reflections of street lights and headlights of oncoming vehicles. This effect is even more pronounced in rainy weather. It is best to replace a scratched or dull visor as soon as possible. Planning a longer trip? Then don't forget to take a replacement visor with you. Never ride in the dark with a tinted visor.
